Role Overview

Confidential Client (a leading intimates specialty retailer in the Creative & Design industry) is seeking a part-time Assistant Designer to support intimates and intimate-apparel collections. This hands-on role supports design development across style, fit, fabric and construction, and requires strong CAD/Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign skills, familiarity with tech-packs and sample-room work, and some lingerie/intimates experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the design team in creating brand-right, commercially viable intimates designs that reflect the seasonal concept and business strategy
• Produce design sketches, flat sketches and CAD images; deliver clear specifications for construction
• Build, organize and maintain the sample room and sample tracking
• Prepare presentation boards, line tableaus and product sample selections for milestone meetings
• Communicate development status and technical details to internal partners (Production, Tech, Merchandising) and vendors
• Partner with Technical Design on fit evaluations, fittings and prototype follow-up
• Adapt designs following feedback and iterate quickly to meet deadlines
• Source trend and competitor research to inform concepts and mood boards
• Maintain acute attention to detail while tracking progress and anticipating issues
• Seek process improvements to increase speed and efficiency

Qualifications

• Entry-level to early-career design experience in a retail fashion environment; specific lingerie/intimates experience required
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Proficient with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign; CAD/flat-sketch experience required
• Strong AI/INDD/Photoshop skills; Microsoft Office competency
• Familiarity with Centric (a plus), tech packs, BOMs and PMLs
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work autonomously when needed
• Strong commercial fashion eye with attention to product styling and performance
• Clear verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a customer-service mindset
• Flexible, creative problem solver who adapts quickly to change
• Professionalism, accountability and a results-oriented work ethic

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay: $30.00 to $35.00 per hour
• Schedule: Part-time
• Location: Manhattan, NY (on-site responsibilities)
