Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an Assistant Data Scientist to support Radiation Physics — Research in Houston, TX. This full-time, onsite role contributes to proton therapy and radiation-physics initiatives by supporting algorithm and software development, dose computation and treatment-planning tools, image processing, and scientific analyses under direct supervision.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in analyzing data-related problems, formalisms, algorithms, and software applications to support radiation physics research.
- Contribute to development and implementation of proton therapy algorithms and treatment‑planning software under supervision.
- Support programming and software activities across multiple systems and technical environments.
- Participate in dose computation work, Monte Carlo techniques, and validation studies for treatment planning.
- Help develop and maintain computational tools and infrastructure for measurements, image processing, and scientific workflows.
- Support software maintenance, optimization, and documentation efforts; collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical and research teams to resolve computational challenges.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of research and clinical initiatives.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or a related field.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in a related area.
- Work Experience: No prior experience required — entry-level role with direct supervision.
- Demonstrated analytical ability, programming aptitude, and interest in computational applications for proton therapy and radiation physics.
- Ability to satisfy security and screening requirements related to critical infrastructure access, as applicable.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary range: $68,500 – $102,500 (midpoint $85,500). This role is FLSA-exempt (salaried, not eligible for overtime).
