Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Digital ASIC/FPGA Design Electrical Engineer (I) to join an engineering team in McKinney, TX. In this hands-on role you will support digital hardware development for defense-related products — focusing on RTL, FPGA work, and verification.


What You’ll Do

  • Support development and execution of verification plans for ASICs and FPGAs
  • Build and maintain verification testbenches (UVM) and related verification components
  • Debug simulation failures and analyze waveform/log outputs to isolate issues
  • Create and run test cases and support functional coverage activities
  • Collaborate with systems, software, mechanical, and other hardware engineers to translate system requirements into digital hardware designs
  • Participate in engineering reviews, documentation, and laboratory testing

Qualifications

You must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field
  • Experience with FPGAs (Xilinx/Intel-Altera), RTL design using Verilog or VHDL, and common simulation tools
  • Fundamental understanding of digital design concepts (state machines, pipelining, clocks, resets, memory, interfaces)
  • Debugging skills using waveforms and log analysis
  • Familiarity with scripting (Python, Perl, Shell) for build, test, or automation tasks
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance — U.S. citizenship required (only U.S. citizens are eligible for clearance)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing UVM-based testbenches and verification components
  • Prior exposure to ASIC design flows or FPGA design processes
  • Hands-on experience with lab bring-up, board-level testing, or hardware debug

Location & Clearance
