Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring an armed Physical Security Officer (Day Shift) to provide access control and protection of critical facilities. This full-time, on-site role focuses on facility security, visitor/customer service, patrols, incident response, and monitoring physical and electronic security systems. The role requires a state Level III commissioned security officer license (or the ability to obtain one per Texas Administrative Code 35.81) and readiness to carry a client-issued firearm while on duty.

What You’ll Do

• Provide professional access control and visitor processing at assigned facilities
• Patrol interior and exterior areas to detect security, safety, or fire hazards
• Monitor CCTV, alarm systems, radios, and other security electronics
• Respond to calls for service, provide first responder support, and assist local authorities as needed
• Deter criminal activity and safety violations through visible presence and proactive actions
• Document incidents and compose clear, timely reports for records and investigations
• Interact courteously and professionally with employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors
• Be available to provide coverage at other client sites when needed

Additional duties

• Carry an assigned confidential-client firearm while on duty (state-licensed Level III officers)
• Operate communications equipment and maintain logs
• Report security equipment malfunctions and safety concerns
• Follow established procedures and escalate issues outside standard practice
• Perform other duties as assigned to support site security and operations

Qualifications (Required)

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in physical security, law enforcement, corrections, military service, or equivalent customer-service roles beyond degree requirements
• Current Level III commissioned security officer license OR ability to complete all Texas Administrative Code 35.81 requirements and obtain a Level III license within 30 days of hire
• Ability to pass State-required licensing and training, plus ongoing physical fitness/ability tests (must meet heavy physical demands such as patrolling, emergency response, and detaining suspects)
• Ability to pass a physical abilities test per Security Training and Qualification Guidelines
• If applicable, provide DD214 with discharge status indicated
• Strong written communication skills for incident reporting
• Professional demeanor and customer-service orientation

Preferred experience

• Minimum 2 years TXDPS Level III security experience operating under a formal Security Training & Qualification Plan (preferred)
• Prior experience supporting critical infrastructure or similar high-security environments

Education & Certification

• High school diploma or GED required (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• TDPS Private Security Level III certification preferred (or ability to obtain)

Compensation & Benefits

• Expected pay: $20.00 – $27.00 per hour (as listed by the client)

• Onboarding includes required training and enrollment timelines as outlined by the client

• Primary work location: Tarrytown, TX (on-site)
