Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a junior-level Architectural Designer to join their buildings practice focusing on industrial buildings. This hybrid role in San Diego, CA involves producing drawings and BIM models, supporting project teams through design and documentation phases, and contributing to sustainable design solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Assist project teams with conceptual development using sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and massing studies.
- Use BIM tools to develop 3D models of buildings and components.
- Prepare and revise architectural documentation: site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, details.
- Coordinate building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical) to align with design intent.
- Participate in design critiques, pin-ups, and project coordination meetings.
- Support contract administration and attend meetings with internal teams and external consultants.
- Implement sustainable design principles in building and site design.
- Conduct site analysis and research of precedents, typologies, and benchmarks.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture or related field.
- Basic knowledge and application of accessibility and applicable building codes.
- Understanding of building construction systems and architectural document production.
- Ability to develop floor plans, wall sections, and architectural details.
- Strong graphic communication and ability to translate sketches and concepts into drawings.
- Time management and attention to accuracy to meet project budgets and schedules.
- Proficiency in:
- Revit (BIM)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- InDesign
- Photoshop
- Experience with Enscape, SketchUp, Bluebeam — a plus.
- Relevant internship or practical experience preferred.
Work Environment & Employment Type
- Hybrid office environment (San Diego, CA) with periods of desk-based CAD/BIM work.
- Some field work may be required, including visits to construction sites and outdoor conditions.
- Employment type: Full time; Contractor engagement possible depending on assignment.
Compensation (estimated)
- Estimated annual pay: $108,198 per year (estimated). Actual compensation will be determined by Confidential Client based on experience and role specifics.
