What You’ll Do
As an Archaeological Technician, you will support cultural-resources projects and field investigations on behalf of the Confidential Client. This is an entry-level, hourly role (part-time opportunities available) focused on fieldwork, artifact processing, and site documentation.
- Conduct Phase I/II/III archaeological fieldwork including evaluative test and data-recovery excavations
- Perform block excavations, digging, screening, artifact recovery, and field documentation (forms, sketches, photos)
- Support regulatory and due-diligence surveys for transportation, energy, land development, and municipal projects
- Assist with background research and use archival resources, maps, and site files to inform field assessments
- Delineate site boundaries using GPS/GIS mapping and assist with site photography
- Process, catalog, and curate cultural materials and samples under supervision
- Maintain equipment, follow project scopes and schedules, and adhere to safety and agency protocols
- Communicate effectively with team members, project managers, and clients
Qualifications
- Completion of an archaeological field school (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field (preferred)
- Some familiarity with state and federal historic-preservation regulations
- Proficiency with GPS equipment and basic GIS/site-mapping techniques
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment
- Ability to work flexible hours; weekend, overtime, overnight travel may be required
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work will take place in both field and office/laboratory settings, with exposure to outdoor and sometimes adverse environmental conditions
- Fieldwork tasks include long periods of standing, walking, hand excavation, and repetitive motions
- May work in remote locations; crews sometimes work out-of-sight of others
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 30 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Tasks require mobility (climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching) and visual acuity for artifact processing and computer work

Location & Travel
- Base of work: Alpharetta, GA (Confidential Client office)
- Role includes local and overnight travel throughout the Southeastern U.S.; part-time technicians will primarily support projects in Georgia

- Estimated pay: $68,114 per year (estimated)
