What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an Apprentice Technician to support the service team at a dealership service center in North Charleston, SC. This is an entry-level, hands-on apprenticeship designed to develop your skills and certifications as you progress toward a Service Technician role.

  • Assist senior Service Technicians or Team Leaders with vehicle inspections and diagnoses
  • Help identify required repairs and maintenance items
  • Support preparation of repair cost estimates and parts requests
  • Learn and perform basic vehicle repair and maintenance tasks under supervision
  • Document services performed accurately in company systems
  • Use available dealer technologies to enhance the customer experience
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Participate in required training (manufacturer, NAPA, state inspections/emissions where applicable)
  • Record hours worked accurately in the company timekeeping system
  • Follow dealership and manufacturer service guidelines and safety rules
  • Demonstrate Confidential Client’s core values in daily work
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the service department

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. The role is focused on learning, assisting, and developing skills for future technician progression.


Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications)

To succeed in this apprenticeship, candidates should demonstrate mechanical aptitude, a strong work ethic, and excellent communication. Reasonable accommodations are available upon request.

  • Basic knowledge of automotive parts and systems or demonstrated mechanical interest
  • Demonstrable mechanical skills or technical training (formal or on-the-job)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Eligible for manufacturer/NAPA training and state inspection/emissions training, if applicable
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform routine physical tasks (stand, walk, stoop, kneel)
  • Reliable attendance and flexible scheduling (may include evenings, weekends, holidays)
  • Ability to learn dealership computer systems for timekeeping and parts ordering
  • Good verbal and written communication; ability to follow instructions

Desired Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Up to 3 years related experience or technical training (entry-level acceptable)
  • Field of study/work experience: Automotive or related technical programs

Computer & Communication Skills

  • Basic computer skills for timekeeping and parts/inventory systems
  • Clear communication with customers and service personnel; ability to follow technical instructions

Physical & Environmental Demands

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Frequently works around vehicles and power tools; may be exposed to noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, and repair shop conditions
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds safely
