What You’ll Do

This role supports design validation and structural analysis for mechanical components and systems. You will execute and improve established engineering processes, build and run computational models, analyze results (motion, loads, natural frequencies, stress, fatigue, sound power), and provide design recommendations to engineering and validation teams. Work includes automation of FEA workflows, use of in-house and third‑party tools, and collaboration across Design, Thermal, Materials and Product Validation groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct numerical simulations and post-processing to evaluate structural performance.
  • Execute and improve documented Engineering Standard Work (ESW) and Design Validation Plans (DVP&R).
  • Develop and use computational tools and scripts to support design and validation decisions.
  • Investigate product/system issues, determine root causes, and own resolution with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Coordinate and direct technical work of technicians or temporary student staff when required.
  • Document methods, results, and recommendations for internal stakeholders.

Competencies & Technical Skills

  • Strong fundamentals in dynamics, vibration, statics, mechanics of materials, fatigue and durability.
  • Experience with simulation and analysis workflows: FEA, modal/natural frequency analysis, rigid/flexible body motion.
  • Statistical methods for engineering data analysis (regression, ANOVA, DOE, hypothesis testing).
  • Familiarity with ANSYS (APDL), FE‑Safe, GT, AVL, or similar CAE tools.
  • Programming/scripting in Python, MATLAB, APDL‑ANSYS, FORTRAN or C for automation and data processing.
  • Comfortable with Windows/Linux environments and HPC/remote compute resources.
  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g., Creo) and experimental data post-processing (Testlab, nCode) is advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate results clearly to different audiences and contribute to cross-functional teams.

Preferred / Additional Skills

  • Experience automating FEA and design optimization workflows.
  • Applied use of AI/automation tools (e.g., Codex, Python automation) to speed simulation and optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with test data post‑processing and correlating simulation to physical tests.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other STEM field required; Master’s may be required for some roles.
  • Entry level / early career: designed for external candidates within ~2 years of completing their highest degree.
  • Preferred experience from internships, co‑ops, student employment, or early career technical roles.

Location & Eligibility

  • Required Work Location: On-site with flexibility — Clifford, IN (authoritative listing).
  • Position may include remote/telecommute elements; applicants should be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • International students (F‑1) must have approved CPT or OPT authorization before the assignment begins.
  • Relocation assistance: available (per client policy).
  • Anticipated start date: June 2027.

Why This Role

  • Early‑career role with broad exposure to simulation, testing, and product validation.
  • Opportunity to develop FEA automation and optimization skills on real product programs.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams and contribute measurable design improvements.
