What You’ll Do

This entry-level Applications Engineer I — Electrical will develop technical proficiency supporting GM-related electrical products and provide supervised technical support to customers, sales, service, and internal teams. Working for a Confidential Client, you’ll learn to apply electrical and basic mechanical knowledge to deliver complete application solutions.

  • Develop technical knowledge of controls, drives, electrical accessories, IIoT, condition monitoring, and SMART product initiatives
  • Support customer technical requests for product selection, application review, troubleshooting, commissioning assistance, and field issue resolution under guidance
  • Build working knowledge of mechanical power transmission products and perform entry-level mechanical troubleshooting to identify electrical vs. mechanical issues
  • Collaborate with mechanical product specialists and senior applications engineers to deliver cross-discipline solutions
  • Learn and apply standard troubleshooting methods, product selection practices, documentation requirements, and internal procedures
  • Assist with drive commissioning and customer controls applications with appropriate supervision and technical review
  • Contribute to training materials, reference tools, and technical documentation for internal customers
  • Participate in field investigations to evaluate customer concerns, document findings, and support corrective actions
  • Support adoption and practical use of EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, and other electrical design tools

What We’re Looking For

Minimum qualifications and skills needed to succeed in this role at the Confidential Client:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience; electrical, controls, or mechatronics focus preferred
  • Foundational knowledge of electrical products, controls, drives, electrical schematics, and industrial troubleshooting concepts
  • Basic understanding of mechanical power transmission products or demonstrated ability to learn cross-discipline troubleshooting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical information clearly to customers and internal teams
  • Ability to learn technical product details, follow procedures, ask appropriate questions, and escalate complex issues when needed
  • Working knowledge of Inventor, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred
  • Willingness to participate in field work and commissioning activities under supervision

Preferred / nice-to-have:

  • Hands-on experience with drive commissioning or controls applications
  • Familiarity with IIoT and condition monitoring systems

Work Conditions & Physical Environment
