What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an Application Programmer (entry-level / early career) to support a hybrid IT program in Wolf Trap, VA. You will design, build, test, and maintain application code using Node.js and Python, collaborate with engineers and analysts, and contribute to a secure, production-focused development lifecycle. This role requires a Public Trust clearance (or ability to obtain one) and strong source-control discipline using Git/GitHub.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, test, and maintain applications using Node.js and Python.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following team standards.
- Participate across the full SDLC: requirements analysis, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Use Git and GitHub for branching, pull requests, code reviews, and collaborative workflows.
- Create and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.
- Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement fixes.
- Support deployments and production support activities as needed.
- Participate in code reviews and help maintain development best practices.
- Learn and apply new technologies, frameworks, and tooling as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of professional software development experience (entry-to-mid level).
- Hands-on experience building applications with Node.js and Python.
- Practical working knowledge of Git and GitHub (repos, branches, commits, pull requests, code review).
- Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Solid grasp of software development fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a source-controlled development environment.
- Must be able to obtain or possess a Public Trust clearance (as required by the program).
- Hybrid work in Wolf Trap, VA — local commute or ability to relocate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Docusaurus or other Node.js web frameworks.
- Familiarity with GitHub Actions or other CI/CD tooling.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Exposure to automated testing frameworks and test automation.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $87,000 – $107,000 (listed range; final offer considers experience, skills, and job specifics).
