Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Application Developer to join an onsite team in Lockwood, MT. This role supports development, enhancement, maintenance, and modernization of enterprise applications within a Java-based environment. You will work under guidance from senior engineers, contribute to coding and testing, participate in Agile ceremonies, assist with database tasks, and support cloud modernization efforts (AWS). This is an onsite, full-time role that includes participation in on-call rotation as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of enterprise applications using Java, SpringBoot, SQL, and front-end web technologies.
- Support development of RESTful services and user interfaces that integrate with enterprise systems and databases.
- Perform routine database tasks in Oracle and PostgreSQL, including data updates, query review, and basic performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, interface, and database issues with support from senior developers.
- Follow secure coding practices and assist in remediating vulnerabilities discovered through testing or security reviews.
- Help implement and maintain authentication and authorization mechanisms per security requirements.
- Collaborate with team members, customers, and stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Participate in Agile activities (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives).
- Support application modernization and cloud migration tasks (code updates, testing, documentation for AWS environments).
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation: code comments, development notes, and SOPs.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge-sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support production operations, including participation in on-call rotations when assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of software or application development experience (including internships, academic projects, or entry-level roles).
- Basic knowledge of Java development and SQL.
- Familiarity with SpringBoot and web application development concepts.
- Basic understanding of relational databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with Agile development methods is preferred.
- Exposure to secure coding principles and application security concepts is preferred.
- Awareness of cloud platforms such as AWS is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, work collaboratively, and adapt in a team-based technical environment.
- Willingness to participate in on-call support rotation as needed.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance (as required by the client).
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, coursework, capstone project, or hands-on academic experience in application development.
- Exposure to REST APIs, Git/source control, CI/CD pipelines, or DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks (Kendo UI, Angular, React, or similar).
- Familiarity with authentication concepts such as OAuth2.
- Interest in enterprise systems, modernization, and cloud technologies.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $75,000 - $77,000 per year (as provided by the client)
