Role Overview
Confidential Client (IT) is seeking an entry-level Application Developer I based in Jacksonville, FL. This hands-on role supports, maintains, debugs, and enhances internal and customer-facing applications under the guidance of senior developers. Full-time; standard 40-hour work week with overtime as required.
What You’ll Do
- Provide technical support to internal users and testers for applications built by the Application Development Team.
- Develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications and components.
- Implement new features and enhancements per technical specifications.
- Document technical specifications, test plans, and testing results.
- Support front-end and back-end integration using APIs and data services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to implement solutions and resolve issues.
- Conduct unit and integration testing to ensure quality and stability.
- Troubleshoot and debug application issues following established processes.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain standards and improve code quality.
- Stay current with trends in the Microsoft development ecosystem and related technologies.
- Safely handle government‑furnished equipment and materials.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Sound analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Basic knowledge of object‑oriented programming (OOP) concepts and common design patterns.
- Educational or practical experience with one or more modern languages: C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as ASP.NET MVC, Blazor, MAUI, React, Next.js, or Angular.
- Foundational knowledge of the full application stack and how front-end clients communicate with back-end servers via APIs.
- Familiarity with web technologies: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Basic knowledge of database systems and query languages (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to work under close supervision when needed.
- Must be able to safely handle government‑furnished equipment and materials.
- Must be available to work required schedule and overtime when necessary.
Education & Experience
To qualify, candidates must meet at least one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, programming, or closely related field; or
- Associate degree plus two (2) years of relevant experience; or
- High school diploma plus four (4) years of relevant experience; or
- Completion of a recognized coding bootcamp or technical training program plus either:
- At least one (1) year of relevant experience, or
- An associate degree or higher in any field.
Candidates should be prepared to discuss at least two major software features where they contributed a significant portion of the code and to present a technical analysis of their implementation choices.
Compensation & Location
- Salary range: $58,000 — $78,000 per year.
- Location: Jacksonville, FL (onsite/located role per client requirements).
- Employment type: Full‑time.
