What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain Android applications, services, and middleware components for automotive infotainment platforms.
- Implement features and modules using Kotlin and Java following Android best practices.
- Build and integrate AIDL interfaces for reliable inter-process communication.
- Develop vendor-specific middleware and Android HAL components; perform low-level design, debugging, and optimization.
- Work with automotive communication stacks including CAN and Ethernet (SOME/IP).
- Use Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, and CAPL for simulation, testing, and diagnostics.
- Deploy and validate software on hardware benches — sideload apps, capture logs, and troubleshoot system-level issues.
- Collaborate with system, integration, and validation engineers in Agile sprints; participate in code reviews and sprint planning.
- Develop automation and diagnostic scripts (Python) and work with UML and JSON for design/configuration.
- Support cloud-enabled development workflows when required (AWS tools).
- Ensure development processes align with automotive standards such as ASPICE.
Qualifications & Required Skills
- 2+ years of Android development experience, preferably in automotive or embedded contexts.
- Strong Kotlin and Java programming skills.
- Hands-on experience with Android applications, services, middleware, and AIDL.
- Familiarity with CAN and Ethernet (SOME/IP) communication protocols.
- Experience developing Android HAL and vendor-specific middleware services.
- Proficiency with Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, and CAPL for testing and diagnostics.
- Practical experience with automotive hardware benches: deployment, debugging, and log analysis.
- Understanding of Automotive ECU software development and automotive software lifecycle.
- Comfortable working in Agile teams and contributing to CI/CD and automated test practices.
- Experience with Python, UML, and JSON for automation and configuration.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Android Automotive OS (AAOS).
- Familiarity with AWS/cloud development environments.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and Git-based workflows.
- Experience with embedded Linux and automotive middleware architectures.
- Prior exposure to ASPICE-compliant projects is a plus.

- Employment type: Contractor (10+ month engagement, hybrid).
- Work location: Detroit, MI (hybrid onsite + remote as required).
- Experience level: Entry / Early-career (2+ years preferred).
- Estimated pay (source): $105,107 per year (estimated).
