Position overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Analytical Chemist I to join a regional laboratory team serving the St. Louis area. This is an excellent entry-level/full-time laboratory role for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field who want hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS and GC-MS instrumentation in a toxicology testing environment.


What You’ll Do

This role focuses on routine specimen preparation, instrument interfacing, data review, and general laboratory support. Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and locate patient samples and perform confirmation assays following Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Operate and interface with analytical instruments including LC-MS/MS and GC-MS (and Tecan liquid handlers).
  • Review LC-MS and GC-MS data prior to forwarding to data certifiers.
  • Communicate cross-functionally to resolve issues that impede testing or sample flow.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new staff on sample prep, instrument operation, and data review.
  • Maintain lab supplies and perform general lab upkeep (cleaning glassware, restocking pipette tips/vials/tubes).
  • Prepare reagents and maintain accurate records.
  • Follow all security and confidentiality procedures for donor/patient information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Schedule & Location

  • Location: Robertson, MO (serving the broader St. Louis lab region)
  • Schedule: Full-time (40+ hours/week)
  • Typical shift: 5:00 PM – 1:30 AM (shift options may vary)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field (required).
  • Ability to work safely with laboratory instruments, chemicals, and biological samples.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs precisely.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years operating and reviewing data from LC-MS/MS (ABSciex experience preferred).
  • Experience with GC-MS and/or both LC-MS/MS and GC-MS workflows.
  • Previous experience in a biological/toxicology laboratory environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced lab.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $22.00 per hour.
