Position summary

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Analyst, Finance Process Automation to join a hybrid team in Santa Ana, CA. This role blends finance, data preparation, and automation to improve how financial information is prepared, validated, and reported. Ideal candidates are curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable learning automation tools and finance processes.


What You’ll Do

  • Support analysis of existing finance processes; document steps, data sources, business rules, and expected outputs.
  • Help design and document improved, repeatable processes using automation tools.
  • Build and enhance data-preparation and automation workflows under senior guidance.
  • Combine, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources to prepare inputs for reporting and reconciliations.
  • Troubleshoot workflow issues, investigate discrepancies, and implement approved fixes.
  • Test automation against documented requirements; reconcile outputs to source data and existing reports.
  • Support user acceptance testing, document issues and resolutions, and follow change-control procedures.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, process descriptions, and user instructions.
  • Communicate progress and blockers clearly to stakeholders and assist with user training and transition to production use.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, information systems, computer science, mathematics, or related field.
  • 0–3 years relevant experience (internships, coursework, or projects welcome).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Clear verbal and written communication; able to explain technical concepts to nontechnical users.
  • Ability to organize work and manage competing priorities with guidance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, lookup functions, PivotTables).
  • Foundational experience with at least one data or automation technology (for example Alteryx, SQL, or Python).
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tools and finance processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience building workflows in Alteryx.
  • Familiarity with SQL for querying, joining, and aggregating data.
  • Familiarity with Python for data analysis or automation (pandas, openpyxl, numpy, etc.).
  • Exposure to financial reporting, reconciliations, or recurring finance processes.
  • Experience with business intelligence/reporting tools (Power BI, Cognos Analytics).
  • Experience documenting processes, validating data, or testing automated solutions.
  • Alteryx Designer Core certification; Designer Advanced certification is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated pay range: $57,276 - $95,459 per year (provided by the source posting).
  • Additional compensation may include quarterly or annual company bonus; shift premium for alternative shifts where applicable.
  • Benefit overview: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), flexible spending and HSA options, life and disability insurance, paid vacation & holidays. Benefits eligibility begins per client policy.

Location & Work Model

  • Location: Santa Ana, CA (Hybrid remote arrangement). Candidates must be able to work on-site as required by the Confidential Client’s policies.

  • Must follow established procedures for handling sensitive financial data, managing change, and obtaining approvals before deployment.
  • May be required to comply with export-control policies and federal regulations where applicable (e.g., ITAR/EAR/OFAC). Certain roles or work on restricted programs may require U.S. citizenship or permanent residency per export-control rules.
