The Opportunity
Confidential client is seeking an AML and Sanctions — Data & Analytics Associate to join their Risk & Regulatory practice in Charlotte, NC. In this role you will support AML and sanctions analysis, help build BI dashboards and recurring reports, and apply Python/SQL and analytics tools to turn disparate data into clear insights that support client decision-making in a banking environment.
What You’ll Do
You will contribute to client projects and internal initiatives by analyzing AML and sanctions data, building reporting and visualizations, and automating repeatable tasks. Typical responsibilities include:
- Analyzing AML and sanctions datasets to identify trends, exceptions, and patterns that inform decisions
- Supporting development of dashboards, recurring reports, and data visualizations for monitoring and issue tracking
- Collecting, cleaning, and reconciling data from multiple sources to improve completeness and consistency
- Applying Python, SQL, and analytics tools to organize datasets and automate repeatable processes
- Translating business questions into clear analytical outputs and written documentation of data logic and assumptions
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, validate findings, and iterate on deliverables
- Learning and applying firm and regulatory standards relevant to AML/sanctions work in financial services
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience (academic projects, internships, or professional experience in data analytics, AML, or related fields)
Preferred / differentiators:
- Degree or coursework in Accounting, Data Science/Analytics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics/Statistics, Risk Management, or related fields
- Practical experience with Python and/or SQL and analytics/BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Demonstrated coursework or project experience in data analysis, statistics, or business intelligence
- Strong analytical thinking, pattern recognition, and written/verbal communication skills
- Curiosity, adaptability, and ownership in fast-paced client environments
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $61,000 - $100,000 (actual compensation dependent on skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable employment laws)
- Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus
- Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid holidays, vacation, and personal/family sick leave (benefit details subject to client policy)
