Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Algorithm Software Engineer to join a Regional Applications Agile Release Train (ART) supporting Command & Control, Battle Management, and Communications for missile defense systems. This is an entry-level, full-time, on-site role in Huntsville, AL requiring Secret clearance. You will contribute to algorithm design, Java-based software development, testing, and agile delivery.


What You’ll Do

  • Generate software design artifacts and present designs to stakeholders.
  • Implement and maintain Java-based application code, including integrating algorithms into production software.
  • Support design and code reviews to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Assist with software testing activities and defect resolution throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, reviews) and follow program processes.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Integration & Test, Deployment, and Warfighter Support teams to ensure mission success.

What You’ll Bring (Required)

  • ~1+ years of related software development experience or equivalent training.
  • Experience with full life-cycle software development.
  • Java application development experience or expertise in another object-oriented language.
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Experience implementing mathematical algorithms in software and basic algorithm design skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability: analyze system behavior, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and to collaborate effectively on multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with agile development practices, including sprint planning and work decomposition.
  • Experience developing algorithms and software in a structured, process-driven integrated team.
  • Familiarity with DEVSECOPS practices for Java-based applications on Unix/Linux platforms.
  • Experience creating automated unit tests and verifying requirements.
  • Experience prototyping algorithms in MATLAB or Python before integration into Java.
  • MATLAB experience and Security+ certification are advantages.

Education, Clearance & Logistics

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with 1+ years of relevant experience.
  • Clearance requirement: Secret (ability to obtain/maintain).
  • Employment type: Full-time, On-site in Huntsville, AL.
  • DOD 8570 requirement: None for this posting.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary range: $85,000 — $104,400 USD (base salary). Actual pay will be based on experience, location, skills, and business needs.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Routine use of a computer and extended periods in a stationary position.
  • Occasional movement around the office and ability to lift/move up to 15 pounds.
