What You’ll Do
The Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Air Quality Compliance Specialist I to support air quality and environmental compliance at Cape Canaveral Space Force Base and other Air Force / Space Force installations across Central Florida. You will work under experienced environmental staff to assist with permitting, emissions tracking, inspections, regulatory reporting, and compliance documentation.
- Assist with preparing and maintaining air permit applications, renewals, modifications, and technical support documents
- Support routine facility inspections of operations, emission sources, air pollution control equipment, and recordkeeping
- Collect, review, and organize emissions data (fuel use, production records, equipment operating data)
- Support preparation of regulatory reports, emissions inventories, and compliance certifications
- Track compliance with federal, Florida, and installation-specific air quality regulations and permit conditions
- Perform emissions calculations using approved emission factors and operational data
- Maintain accurate permit files, inspection reports, compliance calendars, and regulatory correspondence
- Support identification and documentation of potential compliance issues and assist with tracking corrective actions
- Participate in regulatory reviews, facility meetings, and inspections with installation personnel and program staff
- Research applicable environmental regulations and support evaluation of regulatory changes that affect operations
- Communicate with facility personnel and team members to gather information and support compliance activities
- Perform other environmental compliance duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or a related technical field
- 0–1 years relevant professional experience (internships, academic projects, or lab work considered)
- Foundational knowledge of environmental and air quality regulations and a strong interest in developing technical expertise
- Basic skills in data collection, analysis, technical documentation, and recordkeeping
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC); employment contingent on required background screening and a pre-employment drug test
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, coursework, or project experience in air quality, permitting, emissions calculations, or regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with the Clean Air Act, EPA regulations, and Florida Department of Environmental Protection requirements
- Experience with emissions inventories, environmental management systems, or regulatory reporting
- Experience using spreadsheets and environmental databases or data-management tools
- Familiarity with military installations or federal environmental programs
- Exposure to APIMS or EESOH-MIS is a plus
Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site role at Cape Canaveral Space Force Base with occasional travel to other installations across Central Florida. Duties include both office work and field inspections/data collection. Field work may involve industrial equipment, outdoor conditions, elevated noise levels, and varying weather; personal protective equipment may be required. Occasional work outside normal business hours may be necessary to support inspections or operational needs.

- Salary range provided by the client: $60,000–$65,000 per year
