Role overview
Confidential Client is hiring an AI Solution Developer to design and build AI-enabled applications, proofs-of-concept, prototypes, and reusable technical components for government clients. This hands-on delivery role focuses on application development, model integration, data pipelines, and cloud deployment with a strong emphasis on secure, maintainable, and testable solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, test, document, and improve components of AI-enabled applications, prototypes, and reusable accelerators.
- Implement front-end UI components using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js).
- Build backend services, APIs, and application logic using Python and frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Integrate approved generative AI models and services using model APIs, cloud AI services, or open-source frameworks.
- Contribute to retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), enterprise search, intelligent assistants, and AI-enabled workflows.
- Prepare, transform, validate, and integrate data used by AI-enabled applications; work with SQL and databases.
- Apply source control, automated testing, code review, documentation, security, and deployment best practices.
- Create unit tests, perform functional testing, and document results for assigned components.
- Troubleshoot application, model-integration, data, configuration, and deployment issues with guidance from senior staff.
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate with developers, data engineers, ML specialists, designers, and analysts.
- Learn and apply responsible AI, privacy, security, accessibility, and human-centered development practices.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of related professional experience (or equivalent technical experience via internships, academic projects, or personal projects).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret trust clearance or higher.
- Comfortable working in-person as needed (hybrid model; role is expected to include ~60% in-person engagement).
- Hands-on coding experience with Python and familiarity with a backend framework such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Experience with or exposure to JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern front-end framework (React, Next.js, Vue, Angular, Svelte, or similar).
- Familiarity with generative AI models, LLM APIs, or approved open-source AI frameworks.
- Working knowledge of APIs, system integrations, and connections to enterprise data sources.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or comparable) and application deployment patterns.
- Working knowledge of SQL, data ingestion, transformation, and data-quality concepts.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle practices, source control, testing, documentation, and deployment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with nationally distributed teams.
- Ability to prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and communicate blockers and risks.
Preferred (nice-to-have)
- Experience delivering a generative AI proof-of-concept, prototype, or production web application.
- Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases, or prompt-development techniques.
- Experience with Azure OpenAI Service, Amazon Bedrock, or comparable AI platforms.
- Experience with React, Next.js, FastAPI, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native services.
- Familiarity with model evaluation, agent-based architectures, or AI-enabled workflow automation.
- Prior work in government or secure environments with formal documentation, approval, and security requirements.
- Relevant certifications in cloud, AI, or software development.
Location, work model & clearance
- Location: Alpharetta, GA (onsite/hybrid). Role expects approximately 60% in-person engagement to support effective teaming and delivery, subject to client and business requirements.
- Clearance: Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a secret trust clearance or higher.
Compensation & benefits
- Base salary range for this role in the U.S.: $46,700 to $95,200 per year. (For New York City Metro, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) the posted range is $56,000 to $108,100.)
- Total Rewards may include medical and dental coverage, retirement plans (pension/401(k)), paid time off, and other benefits. Actual pay is determined by education, experience, skills, and location.
