The AI/ML Imaging Data Scientist at Confidential Client's DEPCS team designs, develops, and deploys advanced machine learning and image analysis solutions to enhance clinical trial design and accelerate drug development. What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning image-analysis solutions that support clinical trial design, conduct, interpretation and decision-making across early to late-stage drug development.
- Build advanced image analysis applications using classical image processing, computer vision, foundation models and ML techniques tuned for clinical imaging and unstructured biomedical data.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with clinicians, biostatisticians, imaging experts, MLOps and software engineers to integrate algorithms into clinical workflows and enterprise platforms.
- Analyze complex imaging, biological and clinical data to generate insights driving program decisions.
- Work with MLOps and clinical imaging data management to deploy, monitor, maintain and validate production-ready models.
- Apply rigorous ML development practices: clear train/validation/test splits, leakage prevention, benchmarking, uncertainty estimation, external validation and reproducible pipelines.
- Communicate technical findings to both scientific and non-technical stakeholders and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and publications.
- Stay current with trends in AI/ML, imaging biomarkers and clinical AI, and recommend methods that align with regulatory and clinical needs.
Who You Are
- MSc or PhD (preferred) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Electrical/Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years post-graduate experience applying machine learning or data science to medical/scientific imaging in biomedical, pharmaceutical, or healthcare innovation settings.
- Strong expertise in image analysis, pattern recognition, machine learning, computer vision, foundation/large models, statistics and probabilistic modeling.
- Proficient in scientific programming and familiar with HPC and experiment-tracking workflows. Preferred tools: Python, Git/GitLab, Docker, shell scripting, Slurm/LSF.
- Demonstrated application of best practices for reproducible model development, validation and deployment in regulated or clinical contexts.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills; able to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Strategic agility and critical thinking that extend beyond purely technical tasks.
- Respectful and effective collaborator in a global, multicultural environment.
Preferred
- Experience developing or validating ML models in regulated environments or using real-world clinical datasets.
- Contributions to scientific publications or open-source healthcare AI projects.

- Expected California salary range: USD 126,200 — USD 234,400 per year. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available where applicable.
