What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level AI Engineer to help build production software that uses language models and automation inside healthcare workflows. This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll ship features across the stack and move from small tasks to owning end-to-end work.

• Build and ship software across backend (Python) and frontend (React, Next.js) stacks and deploy to AWS.
• Integrate and operationalize large language models (e.g., Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT) and automation tooling into real healthcare documents and workflows.
• Debug, monitor, and improve reliability for systems that handle messy production inputs and volume.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, and business stakeholders to define work, prioritize impact, and deliver solutions—not just tickets.
• Write clear, testable code and documentation; use Git/GitHub and standard developer workflows.

Who We’re Looking For

This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer who moves quickly, learns on the job, and enjoys applied AI in production.

• Recent B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Data, or equivalent project/internship experience.
• Practical coding experience in at least one language (Python preferred) and familiarity with Git/GitHub.
• Some experience or hands-on projects using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor) or model-driven prototypes.
• Basic familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and deploying services.
• Strong critical thinking: break down messy problems, validate model outputs, iterate until results are reliable.
• Clear written and verbal communication and a collaborative, ownership-minded attitude.
• Comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment where priorities evolve.

Nice-to-Have (Bonus experience)

Any of the below are helpful but not required—these will make you stand out.

• Experience with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex).
• Frontend & design strengths (React, Next.js, accessibility).
• Background in statistics, ML, or data science—especially with healthcare or actuarial datasets.
• Data engineering skills (SQL, pipelines, dbt/Athena/Iceberg).
• Familiarity with healthcare, insurance, or employee-benefits domains.
• Process and systems optimization experience (spotting friction and improving flow).

Compensation: $80,000 - $110,000 USD per year (South Norwalk / Norwalk area).
