What You’ll Do

This entry-level AI-Enabled Solution Architect role supports capture and proposal teams on Department of Defense (DoD) and defense-related opportunities. Reporting to the Lead Solution Architect, you will use enterprise and commercial AI tools to shape compliant, competitive technical solutions and convert them into proposal-ready artifacts. Responsibilities include:

  • Support pre-award capture and proposal efforts by developing concept-level technical solutions that respond to solicitation requirements and evaluation criteria.
  • Translate customer requirements, technical baselines, and capabilities narratives into proposal artifacts (solution descriptions, compliance mappings, features/benefits tables, discriminators).
  • Draft and refine content for technical and management volumes that highlights mission fit, risk reduction, and measurable value.
  • Create and refine reusable solution architectures, workflows, and patterns focused on clarity, compliance, and competitive differentiation.
  • Use internal enterprise AI platforms (e.g., secure/government AI environments) and commercial tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to analyze RFPs/RFIs, generate solution concepts, and accelerate content production.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable prompt patterns, AI workflows, and prompt-engineering best practices to produce consistent, high-quality outputs.
  • Curate and validate AI-generated content to ensure technical coherence, compliance, and alignment with capture strategy.
  • Support color-team reviews (Pink/Red/Gold) by rapidly iterating solution narratives based on reviewer feedback and evolving strategy.
  • Work closely with capture managers, proposal managers, technical SMEs, and operations/program managers as a shared resource across multiple pursuits.
  • Advocate for safe, secure, and compliant AI use; document lessons learned and coach colleagues on effective AI practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years supporting defense (DoD) mission support or equivalent government mission environments.
  • Strong domain knowledge of defense mission areas (systems integration, logistics & sustainment, training/simulation, C5ISR, or similar).
  • Demonstrated proficiency using commercial AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) for analysis, drafting, solution exploration, and content refinement.
  • Practical experience designing effective AI prompts and repeatable prompt patterns for consistent outputs.
  • Proven ability to rapidly interpret RFP requirements and synthesize them into coherent technical solution narratives.
  • Excellent written communication skills, especially for formal, structured, customer-facing proposal content.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced, deadline-driven capture/proposal schedules with multiple simultaneous pursuits.
  • High attention to detail to ensure compliance, traceability, and consistency from requirements to solution features.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain required security clearances.
  • Willingness to support surge periods and non-standard hours to meet proposal deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data/AI, business, or a defense-related discipline.
  • Familiarity with enterprise or government-specific AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT.gov, AwardedAI, or equivalents).
  • Conceptual knowledge of generative AI concepts (RAG, prompt engineering, AI-assisted analytics).
  • Experience with structured capture/proposal processes (e.g., Shipley, gated reviews, color teams).
  • Prior collaboration with cross-functional capture teams including technical SMEs and program managers.

Location & Working Conditions

  • Remote within CONUS (U.S.); occasional travel for in-person team sessions, workshops, or proposal orals (estimated <20%).
  • Full-time, pre-award (capture/proposal) role — no direct post-award execution responsibilities.
  • Must support proposal timelines, including surge work and non-standard hours when required.
  • Reports to the Lead Solution Architect and operates as a shared resource across multiple pursuits.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary (listed): $140,000 (good-faith estimate; final compensation may vary based on experience, location, and internal equity).
  • Benefits package may include:
    • Health, dental & vision insurance
    • Paid time off and holidays
    • Retirement benefits (401(k) matching)
    • Educational reimbursement
    • Parental leave
    • Disability and life insurance
    • Additional voluntary benefits (e.g., pet insurance)
  • Benefits and eligibility may vary by employment type, location, and applicable agreements.

Why This Role Matters

This role increases organizational capacity to support mid-sized and smaller but technically complex defense pursuits by applying AI to accelerate high-quality solution development. By combining capture best practices with AI-enabled workflows, the position aims to improve proposal consistency, innovation, and Probability of Win (PWin) across a broader portfolio of opportunities.
