Role Overview

This entry-level, pre-award Solution Architect role supports capture and proposal teams for Department of Defense (DoD) opportunities. Reporting to the Lead Solution Architect, you will use commercial and enterprise AI platforms to shape compliant, compelling, and competitive solution-level artifacts for proposals. This role is focused on capture/proposal activities only (no post-award execution) and operates as a shared resource across multiple pursuits.

Key Responsibilities

• Support live DoD captures and proposals by developing concept-level technical solutions that respond to solicitation requirements, evaluation criteria, and customer constraints under the Lead Solution Architect’s guidance.
• Translate customer requirements, technical baselines, and capability narratives into proposal-ready artifacts (solution descriptions, features/benefits tables, compliance mappings, discriminators) using AI-assisted analysis and content generation.
• Create and refine repeatable solution architectures, workflows, and patterns that can be reused across bids — emphasizing clarity, compliance, and competitive differentiation.
• Draft and refine content for technical and management volumes describing how proposed solutions meet mission needs, reduce risk, and deliver measurable value.
• Use internal enterprise AI platforms (e.g., government-secure models) and commercial tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to:
  • Analyze RFPs, RFIs, and related documents to identify requirements, risks, and opportunities.
  • Generate and iterate solution concepts, narratives, and supporting materials.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable prompt patterns and AI workflows to improve speed and output quality.
  • Apply prompt-engineering best practices to guide AI toward accurate, relevant, and compliant outputs.
• Curate, validate, and organize AI-generated content to ensure technical coherence and alignment with capture strategy and Lead Solution Architect direction.
• Help identify AI-assisted solution enhancements or discriminators that increase Probability of Win (PWin).
• Rapidly iterate solution narratives and artifacts to support color team reviews (e.g., Pink, Red, Gold).
• Act as an AI advocate and coach for capture/proposal teams—promoting safe, compliant, and effective use of AI tools while documenting lessons learned and recommended practices.
• Operate as a shared resource, balancing workload across multiple pursuits as directed.

Who You Are / Required Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ experience supporting DoD or similar defense mission-support environments with direct exposure to government mission support.
• Strong domain knowledge of defense mission areas and common solution constructs (systems integration, logistics & sustainment, training & simulation, C5ISR, etc.).
• Familiarity with federal proposal structure and content (technical and management volumes, compliance, evaluation criteria).
• Demonstrated proficiency using commercial AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) for professional tasks: analysis, drafting, solution exploration, and content refinement.
• Experience designing repeatable prompt patterns and applying prompt-engineering practices.
• Strong analytical skills: assimilate RFP requirements, technical baselines, and stakeholder input and synthesize coherent solution narratives.
• Excellent formal written communication for customer-facing proposal content.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with concurrent pursuits and surge support during proposal deadlines.
• High attention to detail to ensure compliance, consistency, and traceability from requirements to solution features.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by assigned projects.
• Must be able to support non-standard hours and surge periods to meet submission deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data/AI, business, or a defense-related discipline.
• Familiarity with enterprise or government-secure AI environments (e.g., ChatGPT.gov, AwardedAI).
• Conceptual knowledge of generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, and prompt engineering from an architectural perspective.
• Experience with structured capture/proposal processes (e.g., Shipley-based methods, gated reviews, color teams).
• Prior collaboration with cross-functional capture teams including SMEs, program managers, and business development.

Working Conditions & Location

• Remote within CONUS (telecommute); occasional travel (<20%) for in-person team sessions, workshops, or proposal orals may be required.
• Must support aggressive proposal timelines and be available for surge periods and non-standard hours as needed.
• Reports to the Lead Solution Architect and operates as a shared resource across multiple capture and proposal teams.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary (good-faith estimate): $140,000 per year.
