Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an AI-Enabled Solution Architect to support capture and proposal activities for defense-focused pursuits. This is a pre-award, capture/proposal-facing architecture role that uses enterprise and commercial AI tools to accelerate solution development, create proposal-ready artifacts, and improve Probability of Win (PWin) across Department of Defense (DoD) opportunities. This position will operate as a shared resource across capture teams and report to the Lead Solution Architect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support live DoD captures and proposals by developing concept-level technical solutions that respond to solicitation requirements, evaluation criteria, and customer constraints under the guidance of the Lead Solution Architect.
  • Translate customer requirements, capability narratives, and technical baselines into proposal-ready artifacts (solution descriptions, features/benefits, compliance mappings, discriminators) using AI-assisted analysis and content generation.
  • Create and refine solution architectures, workflows, and reusable patterns focused on clarity, compliance, and competitive differentiation.
  • Draft and edit technical and management volume content that demonstrates how proposed solutions meet mission needs, reduce risk, and deliver measurable value.
  • Participate in and support color team reviews (Pink, Red, Gold) by iterating solution narratives and artifacts quickly in response to reviewer feedback.

AI-Enabled Solutioning & Tools Utilization

  • Use internal enterprise AI platforms (e.g., secure/government AI environments) and commercial tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to analyze RFPs/RFIs, identify requirements/risks/opportunities, and generate/refine solution concepts and supporting materials.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable prompt patterns and AI workflows to increase speed and quality of solution development.
  • Apply prompt-engineering best practices to guide AI toward accurate, relevant, and compliant outputs for defense missions and federal contracting.
  • Curate, organize, and quality-assure AI-generated content to ensure technical coherence and alignment with capture strategy and Lead Solution Architect direction.

PWin & Competitive Differentiation

  • Ensure AI-enabled solution concepts align with win themes, strengths, and discriminators defined by capture leadership.
  • Use AI-assisted analysis to identify potential solution enhancements, efficiencies, and innovations that increase PWin.
  • Rapidly iterate artifacts in support of capture strategy and reviewer feedback.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with:
    • Lead Solution Architect (primary supervisor and mentor)
    • Capture managers (strategy and win themes)
    • Proposal managers (volume structure, schedule, compliance)
    • Technical SMEs and engineering leads (technical accuracy)
    • Operations/program managers (operational realism, past performance)
  • Operate as a shared resource across multiple pursuits and balance priorities as directed by capture/proposal leadership.

AI Advocacy, Enablement & Safe Use

  • Serve as a day-to-day advocate for the safe and effective use of AI in capture and proposal activities.
  • Support AI pilots and internal experimentation, documenting lessons learned and recommended practices.
  • Coach teammates on effective AI use (prompt strategies, use cases, limitations) while emphasizing oversight, quality assurance, and data protection.
  • Promote responsible, secure, and compliant use of AI in alignment with client policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years experience supporting defense customers with direct exposure to government mission support environments.
  • Strong understanding of DoD missions, operational contexts, and common solution constructs (systems integration, logistics & sustainment, training & simulation, C5ISR, etc.).
  • Familiarity with federal proposal structure and evaluation criteria (technical and management volumes).
  • Demonstrated proficiency using commercial AI products (ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) for analysis, drafting, and content refinement.
  • Experience designing effective AI prompts and repeatable prompt patterns for consistent, high-quality outputs.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize RFP requirements and stakeholder input into coherent solution narratives.
  • Excellent written communication skills for structured, customer-facing proposal content.
  • High attention to detail to ensure compliance and traceability from requirements to solution features.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by assigned projects.
  • Ability to support proposal timelines, including surge periods and non-standard hours when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data/AI, business, or a defense-related discipline.
  • Familiarity with enterprise/secure AI environments (e.g., ChatGPT.gov, AwardedAI).
  • Conceptual knowledge of generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted analytics.
  • Experience with structured capture/proposal processes (Shipley, gated reviews, color teams).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional capture and proposal teams.

Working Conditions

  • Location: Remote within CONUS; occasional travel (<20%) for in-person team sessions, workshops, or proposal orals.
  • Schedule: Must support proposal timelines including surge periods and non-standard hours to meet deadlines.
  • Reports to the Lead Solution Architect and functions as a shared resource across multiple capture teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base compensation (good-faith estimate): $140,000 per year.
  • Benefits may include:
    • Health, dental, and vision insurance
    • Paid time off and holidays
    • Retirement benefits (including 401(k) matching)
    • Educational reimbursement
    • Parental leave
    • Employee stock purchase plan
    • Disability and life insurance
    • Other benefits may vary by employment type, location, and applicable agreements

Why This Role Matters

This AI-Enabled Solution Architect role increases organizational capacity to address complex defense pursuits that may otherwise be underserved. By applying AI tools to solution shaping and proposal development, the role improves consistency, innovation, and overall PWin across a broad portfolio of defense opportunities.
