Role Overview

This opportunity is for an AI-Enabled Solution Architect supporting capture and proposal development for Department of Defense (DoD) pursuits. The role is a pre-award, capture/proposal-focused architecture position that leverages enterprise and commercial AI tools to shape compliant, competitive technical solutions and translate them into proposal-ready artifacts. The position reports to the Lead Solution Architect and operates as a shared resource across multiple pursuits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support live DoD capture and proposal efforts by developing concept-level technical solutions that respond to solicitations, evaluation criteria, and customer constraints under guidance from the Lead Solution Architect.
  • Translate customer requirements, technical baselines, and capability narratives into proposal-ready artifacts (solution descriptions, features/benefits, compliance matrices, discriminators) using AI-assisted analysis and drafting.
  • Create and refine reusable solution architectures, workflows, and patterns that prioritize clarity, compliance, and competitive differentiation.
  • Draft and refine content for technical and management volumes that demonstrate mission fit, risk reduction, and measurable value.
  • Use internal enterprise AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT.gov, AwardedAI) and commercial tools (e.g., Claude) to analyze RFPs/RFIs, generate/refine solution concepts, and speed content production.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable prompt patterns and AI workflows; apply sound prompt-engineering practices to direct AI toward accurate, relevant, and compliant outputs.
  • Curate, validate, and organize AI-generated content to ensure technical coherence and alignment with capture strategy and the Lead Solution Architect’s direction.
  • Assist with PWin-focused activities: align solution concepts to win themes, support color team reviews (Pink/Red/Gold), and rapidly iterate artifacts based on reviewer feedback.
  • Serve as an AI advocate and coach for capture/proposal teams—document lessons learned, promote safe/compliant AI use, and help teammates apply effective prompt strategies.
  • Balance workload across multiple pursuits as a shared resource; support surge periods and non-standard hours to meet proposal deadlines.

What We're Looking For (Required Qualifications)

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years supporting defense or government mission support environments.
  • Domain knowledge: Strong understanding of DoD missions and common solution constructs (systems integration, logistics/sustainment, training/simulation, C5ISR, etc.) and familiarity with federal proposal structure and evaluation criteria.
  • AI tooling: Demonstrated proficiency using commercial AI products (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) for analysis, drafting, and solution exploration; experience designing repeatable prompt patterns and AI workflows.
  • Skills: Strong analytical ability to assimilate RFP requirements and stakeholder input and synthesize clear solution narratives; excellent written communication for formal, customer-facing proposal content; high attention to compliance and traceability.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Eligibility: U.S. citizenship required and eligibility to obtain/maintain a security clearance as project needs dictate.
  • Schedule: Ability to support proposal timelines including surge activity and occasional non-standard hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data/AI, business, or related defense discipline.
  • Familiarity with enterprise/secure AI platforms and concepts (generative AI, RAG, prompt engineering, AI-assisted analytics).
  • Experience with structured capture/proposal processes (Shipley methods, gated reviews, color teams).
  • Proven experience collaborating with technical SMEs, program managers, and business development stakeholders.

Working Conditions & Logistics

  • Location: Remote within CONUS; occasional travel for in-person workshops, team sessions, or proposal orals (estimated <20%).
  • Reports to: Lead Solution Architect within the client’s Engineering & Technology organization; functions as a shared resource across multiple pursuits.
  • Must be able to accommodate surge periods and support tight submission deadlines as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation (good-faith estimate): $140,000 per year.
  • Benefits (may vary by location/employment type): health, dental, and vision insurance; PTO and holidays; 401(k) with match; educational reimbursement; parental leave; employee stock purchase plan; tax-advantaged accounts; disability and life insurance; pet insurance.
  • Note: Benefits and exact compensation may vary based on experience, location, employment type, and applicable agreements or laws.

Why This Role Matters

This role increases capture team capacity and brings AI-enabled solutioning to smaller and mid-sized DoD pursuits that require technically credible and competitive responses. By combining domain knowledge with AI-driven workflows, this architect helps improve proposal quality, consistency, and innovation — directly supporting higher Probability of Win (PWin) across a broader range of opportunities.
