Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an AI-Enabled Solution Architect to support capture and proposal development for Department of Defense (DoD) opportunities. This is a pre-award, entry-level architecture role that will partner with capture managers, proposal managers, technical SMEs, and operations/program leads to use AI tools and repeatable solution patterns to produce compliant, persuasive, and competitive proposal artifacts. The role operates as a shared resource across multiple pursuits and reports to the Lead Solution Architect.

Key Responsibilities

Capture and Proposal Solution Support

Confidential Client’s AI-Enabled Solution Architect will focus on shaping concept-level technical solutions and translating them into proposal-ready artifacts under the direction of the Lead Solution Architect. Typical activities include:

  • Support live DoD captures and proposals by developing concept-level technical solutions responsive to solicitation requirements and evaluation criteria.
  • Translate requirements, capabilities narratives, and technical baselines into proposal-ready artifacts (solution descriptions, features/benefits tables, compliance mappings, discriminators).
  • Create and refine reusable solution architectures, workflows, and patterns that emphasize clarity, compliance, and competitive differentiation.
  • Draft and revise content for technical and management volumes describing how proposed solutions meet mission needs, reduce risk, and deliver measurable value.

AI-Enabled Solutioning & Tools

The role emphasizes use of enterprise and commercial AI tools to accelerate solution development and improve consistency:

  • Use internal secure AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT.gov, AwardedAI) and commercial models (e.g., Claude) to analyze RFPs/RFIs and extract requirements, risks, and opportunities.
  • Generate and refine solution concepts, narratives, and supporting materials with AI-assisted analysis and content generation.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable prompt patterns and AI workflows to improve speed and quality of outputs.
  • Apply prompt-engineering best practices to guide tools toward accurate, relevant, and compliant results for defense-focused proposals.
  • Curate AI-generated content to ensure coherence, traceability, and alignment with capture strategy and Lead Solution Architect direction.

PWin & Competitive Differentiation

  • Ensure AI-enabled solution concepts support win themes, strengths, and discriminators developed by capture leadership.
  • Identify AI-revealed solution enhancements, efficiencies, or innovations that improve Probability of Win (PWin).
  • Support color-team reviews (Pink/Red/Gold) by rapidly iterating and refining solution narratives and artifacts based on reviewer feedback.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with the Lead Solution Architect (supervisor/mentor), capture managers, proposal managers, technical SMEs, engineering leads, and operations/program managers.
  • Operate as a shared resource across multiple pursuits and balance priorities as directed by capture/proposal leadership.
  • Liaise with subject-matter experts to validate technical accuracy and operational realism of proposed approaches.

AI Advocacy, Enablement & Safe Use

  • Advocate safe, responsible, and compliant use of AI in capture and proposal activities.
  • Support AI pilots, document lessons learned, and recommend best practices for proposal development.
  • Coach capture/proposal team members on effective AI usage—basic prompt strategies, common use cases, limitations, and oversight practices.
  • Emphasize data protection, quality assurance, and alignment with customer and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years supporting DoD missions or similar government mission-support environments.
  • Strong domain knowledge of defense mission areas (systems integration, logistics/sustainment, training/simulation, C5ISR, or similar).
  • Familiarity with federal proposal structure and content (technical and management volumes, evaluation criteria).
  • Demonstrated proficiency using commercial AI products (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) for professional analysis, drafting, and content refinement.
  • Experience designing effective prompts and repeatable prompt patterns for consistent outputs.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize RFP requirements and stakeholder input into coherent solution narratives.
  • Excellent written communication skills for formal, structured, customer-facing proposal content.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple concurrent pursuits.
  • High attention to detail for ensuring compliance, consistency, and requirement-to-feature traceability.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by assigned projects.
  • Must support proposal timelines, including surge periods and non-standard hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data/AI, business, or a defense-related discipline.
  • Familiarity with enterprise/secure AI platforms (e.g., government-specific AI environments).
  • Conceptual familiarity with generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted analytics.
  • Experience with structured capture/proposal processes (Shipley or equivalent), gated reviews, and color teams.
  • Prior experience collaborating across business development, technical SMEs, and program management functions.

Working Conditions

  • Location: Remote within CONUS (telecommute). Occasional travel (<20%) for in-person working sessions, workshops, or proposal orals may be required.
  • Schedule: Must support proposal timelines, including surge periods and non-standard hours to meet submission deadlines.
  • Reporting: Reports to the Lead Solution Architect and operates as a shared resource supporting multiple capture and proposal teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base compensation: $140,000 (good-faith estimate; actual pay may vary based on experience, location, and other factors).
  • Benefits may include health, dental, and vision insurance; PTO and holidays; retirement benefits including 401(k) matching; educational reimbursement; parental leave; disability and life insurance; and other programs. Benefits can vary by location and employment type.

Why This Role Matters

This AI-Enabled Solution Architect role expands capture team capacity to address technically complex smaller and mid-sized DoD opportunities that require solutioning rigor. By applying AI to solution shaping and proposal development, the role increases proposal quality, consistency, and innovation—directly supporting higher Probability of Win across a broader portfolio of pursuits.
