Key Responsibilities
This position is an entry-level Solution Architect focused on capture and proposal support for DoW/defense-related opportunities. You will work with capture and proposal teams to shape compliant, compelling, and competitive technical solutions using AI-enabled tools.
- Support live capture and proposal efforts by developing concept-level technical solutions that respond to solicitation requirements, evaluation criteria, and customer constraints under the Lead Solution Architect’s guidance.
- Translate customer requirements, technical baselines, and capabilities narratives into proposal-ready artifacts (solution descriptions, features/benefits, compliance mappings, discriminators) using AI-assisted analysis and content generation.
- Create and refine reusable solution architectures, workflows, and patterns focused on clarity, compliance, and differentiation.
- Draft and refine content for technical and management volumes that demonstrates how proposed solutions meet mission needs, reduce risk, and deliver value.
- Support color team reviews by rapidly iterating solution narratives and artifacts based on reviewer feedback.
AI-Enabled Solutioning & Tools
- Use enterprise and commercial AI platforms (e.g., secure/government AI platforms and commercial LLMs) to:
- Analyze RFPs, RFIs, and related documents to identify requirements, risks, and win opportunities.
- Generate and refine solution concepts, narratives, and supporting materials.
- Develop and maintain repeatable prompt patterns and AI workflows to improve speed and quality.
- Apply prompt engineering best practices to guide AI outputs toward accurate, relevant, and compliant results for defense missions and federal contracting.
- Curate, validate, and organize AI-generated content to ensure technical coherence and alignment with capture strategy.
PWin & Competitive Differentiation
- Ensure AI-enabled solution concepts support win themes, strengths, and discriminators.
- Identify AI-revealed solution enhancements, efficiencies, or innovations to improve Probability of Win (PWin).
- Rapidly produce and refine differentiators and compliance mappings for proposal submission.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with:
- Lead Solution Architect (supervisor and mentor)
- Capture managers (strategy and win themes)
- Proposal managers (volume structure, schedule, and compliance)
- Technical SMEs and engineering leads (technical accuracy)
- Operations and program managers (operational realism, past performance)
- Operate as a shared resource across multiple pursuits and balance priorities as directed by capture/proposal leadership.
AI Advocacy, Enablement & Safe Use
- Advocate for safe, secure, and responsible AI usage in capture and proposal activities.
- Support AI pilots and internal experimentation; document lessons learned and best practices.
- Coach colleagues on effective AI practices while emphasizing oversight, quality assurance, and data protection.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience supporting defense/government mission environments.
- Strong understanding of defense mission contexts and common solution constructs (systems integration, logistics, sustainment, training & simulation, C5ISR, etc.).
- Familiarity with federal proposal structure and evaluation criteria.
- Demonstrated proficiency with commercial AI products (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) and experience designing repeatable prompts and AI workflows for professional tasks.
- Excellent analytical and formal written communication skills, with strong attention to compliance and traceability from requirements to solution features.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance as needed.
- Ability to support proposal surge periods, tight deadlines, and occasional non-standard hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, AI/data, business, or related field preferred.
- Familiarity with government/enterprise AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT.gov, AwardedAI) and AI architectural concepts (RAG, prompt engineering).
- Experience with structured capture/proposal processes (Shipley, gated reviews, color teams).
- Prior collaboration with cross-functional capture/proposal teams.
Working Conditions
- Remote within CONUS; occasional travel for in-person workshops, team sessions, or proposal orals (estimated < 20%).
- Reports to the Lead Solution Architect and operates as a shared resource supporting multiple capture and proposal teams.
Why This Role Matters
This role increases capture capacity for complex smaller- and mid-sized bids within the defense portfolio. By applying AI to solution shaping and proposal development, the position raises proposal quality, consistency, and innovation—directly supporting higher Probability of Win across a broader set of pursuits.
