Key Responsibilities

  • Support live DoD captures and pre-award proposals by developing concept-level technical solutions that respond to solicitation requirements, evaluation criteria, and customer constraints under the direction of the Lead Solution Architect.
  • Translate requirements, capability narratives, and technical baselines into proposal-ready artifacts such as solution descriptions, features/benefits tables, compliance mappings, and discriminators using AI-assisted analysis and content generation.
  • Create and refine solution architectures, workflows, and reusable solution patterns focused on clarity, compliance, and competitive differentiation (concept-level — not detailed implementation designs).
  • Draft and edit technical and management volume content that demonstrates how proposed solutions meet mission needs, reduce risk, and deliver measurable value.
  • Use internal enterprise AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT.gov, AwardedAI) and commercial tools (e.g., Claude) to analyze RFPs/RFIs, generate and refine solution narratives, and identify risks & opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable prompt patterns and AI workflows to speed solution development while preserving quality and compliance.
  • Apply prompt engineering best practices and curate AI outputs to ensure technical coherence, adherence to capture strategy, and alignment with the Lead Solution Architect’s direction.
  • Support color team reviews (Pink/Red/Gold) by iterating on solution narratives and artifacts rapidly in response to reviewer feedback.
  • Collaborate closely with capture managers, proposal managers, technical SMEs, engineering leads, and operations/program managers as a shared resource across multiple pursuits.
  • Advocate for safe, responsible, and compliant use of AI in capture and proposal activities; document lessons learned and coach colleagues on effective AI practices.
  • Help identify AI-driven differentiators and efficiencies that can improve Probability of Win (PWin).

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience supporting Department of War (DoW) or similar defense mission support environments.
  • Strong familiarity with DoW missions, operational contexts, and typical defense solution constructs (systems integration, logistics/sustainment, training & simulation, C5ISR, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of federal proposal structure and common technical/management volume constructs and evaluation criteria.
  • Demonstrated professional use of commercial AI products (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) for analysis, drafting, solution exploration, or content refinement.
  • Experience designing effective prompts and repeatable prompt patterns that yield consistent, high-quality outputs.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly assimilate RFP requirements, technical baselines, and stakeholder input into coherent solution narratives.
  • Excellent written communication skills for formal, customer-facing proposal content.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment across multiple concurrent pursuits; flexible for surge periods and non-standard hours.
  • High attention to detail to ensure compliance, consistency, and traceability from requirements to solution features.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by assigned projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data/AI, business, or a defense-related discipline.
  • Familiarity with enterprise or government-specific AI environments (e.g., ChatGPT.gov, AwardedAI).
  • Conceptual exposure to generative AI patterns, retrieval-augmented generation, and AI-assisted analytics.
  • Experience with structured capture/proposal processes (Shipley-based methods, gated reviews, color teams).
  • Prior experience collaborating with cross-functional capture and proposal teams (SMEs, program managers, business development).

Working Conditions

  • Location: Remote within CONUS; occasional travel (<20%) for in-person team sessions, workshops, or proposal orals.
  • Schedule: Must support proposal timelines including surge periods and non-standard hours to meet deadlines.
  • Reports to: Lead Solution Architect (shared resource across multiple capture/proposal teams).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation (good-faith estimate): $140,000 per year.
  • Benefits may include:
    • Health, dental, and vision insurance
    • Paid time off and holidays
    • Retirement benefits (including 401(k) matching)
    • Educational reimbursement
    • Parental leave
    • Employee stock purchase plan
    • Disability and life insurance
    • Pet insurance
  • Note: Benefits may vary by employment type, location, and applicable agreements. Positions governed by collective bargaining agreements or the Service Contract Act may include different provisions.

Why This Role Matters

This AI-enabled Solution Architect role expands capture teams’ capacity to address technically complex small and mid-sized DoW bids that require robust, compliant solutioning. By integrating AI tools into solution shaping and proposal development, the role improves consistency, innovation, and the organization’s Probability of Win across a broader set of pursuits.
