Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an AI Data Scientist (Precision Oncology) to support oncology research and clinical AI initiatives. This role applies machine learning and advanced analytics to large clinical, imaging, pathology, molecular/genomic, and outcomes datasets to generate actionable insights, develop predictive models, and help evaluate and implement AI solutions across oncology programs.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, validate, and maintain predictive and analytic models for oncology outcomes, risk stratification, and treatment response.
- Work with clinical, imaging, pathology, molecular/genomic, and outcomes datasets to prepare high-quality analytic datasets.
- Perform exploratory data analysis, statistical inference, hypothesis testing, and feature engineering.
- Prototype and evaluate machine learning and deep learning solutions; select appropriate methods and validation strategies for clinical use cases.
- Produce clear, reproducible analytical notebooks, visualizations, and dashboards to communicate results to clinicians and stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with clinicians, informaticians, AI/ML engineers, and data platform teams to operationalize models and support institutional AI initiatives.
- Follow best practices for code versioning (Git), reproducibility, documentation, and data governance in healthcare environments.
- Support model implementation efforts, including performance monitoring, fairness assessment, and clinical evaluation studies.
- Contribute to cross-functional research projects and help translate analytic results into actionable clinical workflows.
Qualifications
Minimum
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Informatics, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).
- Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets and performing data cleaning, preprocessing, and quality assessment.
- Solid SQL skills and experience with database technologies.
- Familiarity with Linux-based analytic environments and collaborative development tools (Git).
- Strong grounding in statistical modeling, experimental design, and hypothesis testing.
- Experience creating analytical reports, visualizations, and dashboards for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clinicians and cross-functional teams.
Preferred
- Master’s degree (or higher) in a related quantitative discipline.
- Prior experience in oncology, clinical research, genomics, or medical imaging data science.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and image analysis workflows.
- Experience with model evaluation in clinical or regulated environments, including bias/fairness assessment and clinical validation.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization, or MLOps practices.
Nice-to-Have / Differentiators
- Prior work on multi-modal biomedical datasets (clinical + imaging + genomics).
- Contributions to published research or clinical AI deployments.
- Experience working with pathology, radiology, or genomics pipelines.
- Understanding of healthcare data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (base): $77,022.40 - $117,582.40 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on location, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
