What You’ll Do
- Build robust statistical and ML models that turn drone imagery and field data into digital phenotypes, growth curves, and defensible treatment-effect estimates (spatial variability, mixed models, nonlinear fits, and ML where it adds value).
- Clean, structure, and validate diverse datasets from field trials; improve analytical workflows for scalability and reproducibility.
- Develop dashboards and visualizations in the aerialFARMS platform to surface results for internal teams and clients.
- Support client trial readouts with seed companies, biologicals firms, and CROs — explain results clearly, including limitations and practical implications.
- Serve as the internal agronomy data-science subject-matter expert for agronomists, product managers, and engineers.
What We’re Looking For
- Master’s or PhD preferred in Statistics, Data Science, Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Engineering, or a closely related discipline; strong practical experience will be considered.
- Real-world experience in experimental design and treatment-effect analysis — you know why a significant p-value isn’t the end of the story.
- Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modeling.
- Experience working with agricultural and geospatial datasets; remote sensing experience is a plus.
- Comfortable with cloud platforms, databases, and Git-based workflows.
- Strong communicator — able to present to both technical audiences (PhDs) and growers in plain language.
- Detail-oriented, skeptical in a constructive way, and effective in team-based settings.
- Demonstrated agricultural experience is required.
