AFC Software Engineer (Korean / English bilingual)
The AFC Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying software for Automatic Fare Collection devices. What You’ll Do
The Confidential Client is hiring an AFC Software Engineer to design, build, test, deploy, and support software for Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) devices. This role combines embedded/desktop development with hands-on deployment and troubleshooting (both on-site and remote).
- Participate in software design, coding, unit and integration testing, and deployment for AFC devices
- Deploy and configure updated firmware/software on AFC terminals
- Perform on-site and remote testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting by analyzing system logs and diagnostic data
- Debug and resolve operational issues quickly and clearly communicate root causes and fixes
- Produce and maintain technical documentation (installation guides, runbooks, release notes)
- Support project tasks and deliverables assigned by the manager, including field support during deployments
Required (Basic) Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong foundation in programming concepts and software engineering best practices
- Proficiency with C and familiarity with C#, Python
- Experience using Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code
- Comfortable developing on Windows OS and working with STM32-based platforms
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Effective verbal and written communication; able to work on a team and interact with field engineers
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic computer networking knowledge
- Experience with serial communication programming (UART/RS232/RS485)
- Experience with TCP/IP programming and network troubleshooting
- Intermediate conversational Korean (bilingual Korean/English is a plus)
- Prior experience supporting field deployments or transportation/payments hardware
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally by air for on-site deployments and support
Compensation
- Base salary range (reported by client): $65,000 — $85,000 per year
- Additional benefits and incentives may be offered by the Confidential Client
