Summary

Confidential Client is hiring an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer II to support and improve electronics manufacturing processes at their Urbana, OH facility. This role focuses on PCB assembly, surface-mount and through-hole processes, automated inspection, test, and process improvements that increase product reliability and manufacturability.


What You’ll Do

  • Support development, optimization, and implementation of electronics manufacturing processes including pick-and-place, surface-mount assembly (SMT), wave soldering, selective solder, conformal coating, aqueous cleaning, X‑Ray inspection, oven curing, masking, Ionograph testing, and final inspection.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to troubleshoot electronic assembly issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead/process improvement activities to reduce defects, improve yield, and increase throughput.
  • Validate new processes and equipment; write and update process documentation, work instructions, and process control plans.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) related to electronic assemblies.
  • Support supplier and component qualification activities relevant to electronic components and PCB assemblies.

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Completed entry-level experience or internships in electronics engineering or related technical fields.
  • Foundational knowledge of electronic circuits, components, assemblies, and testing methods.
  • A growth mindset and eagerness to learn manufacturing processes and test methods.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.; this role does not sponsor work visas.

WE VALUE:

  • Hands-on electronics manufacturing experience (PCB assembly, SMT, pick-and-place, wave soldering).
  • Familiarity with IPC soldering standards, PCB inspection methods, and wiring harness standards.
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, and functional test rigs.
  • Working knowledge of process failure mode concepts, corrective action implementation, and basic power-supply architectures.
  • Awareness of aerospace/quality standards such as AS9100 and supplier/source-certification processes.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related STEM discipline is a strong foundation.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills applied to electronics manufacturing.
