Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Adult Protective Services Specialist I/II to join the team in Norman, OK. In this role you will receive and investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults; assess capacity and risk; develop and coordinate service plans; prepare legal documentation; and participate in court proceedings when required.


Salary & Benefits

  • Level I (H26A): $38,857.35 per year + full state employee benefits
  • Level II (H26B): $41,770.20 per year + full state employee benefits
  • Salary depends on level of qualification and experience.
  • Extensive travel is required; a valid driver’s license and required vehicle insurance must be maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and investigate APS referrals alleging abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  • Conduct interviews with vulnerable adults, alleged perpetrators, and collaterals in homes and by phone.
  • Assess risk, needs, and decision-making capacity of adults served.
  • Develop and implement customer-centered protective service plans.
  • Prepare legal forms, attend hearings, and provide testimony when necessary.
  • Document complete case records, including interview notes and case actions.
  • Coordinate with community partners and internal teams to deliver services.
  • Provide training, presentations, and participate in committees and case staffing as requested.
  • Level I staff will work in a training status and may assist higher-level specialists while completing the APS New Worker Training Academy.
  • Level II staff conduct independent, prompt, and thorough investigations, may staff cases in the absence of higher-level supervisors, and prepare cases for involuntary services when indicated.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Adult Protective Services Specialist — Level I: Bachelor’s degree in any field required.
  • Adult Protective Services Specialist — Level II: Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree plus one year of professional social work experience.
  • Ability to travel extensively and maintain required driver’s license and insurance.
  • Willingness to work with vulnerable adult populations and participate in court processes.
