Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Adult Protective Services (APS) Specialist I/II to join their team in Mcalester, OK. In this role you will investigate reports of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults, coordinate service plans, prepare legal documentation, and, when necessary, participate in court proceedings. Travel is extensive; a valid driver’s license and required car insurance are mandatory.


What You’ll Do

  • Receive and investigate APS intakes involving alleged abuse, neglect, self-neglect, or exploitation.
  • Assess capacity and risk, determine need for voluntary or involuntary services, and develop service plans.
  • Conduct follow-up visits and coordinate community resources and supports.
  • Prepare legal forms and attend court hearings; provide testimony as required.
  • Make collateral contacts (family, caregivers, medical providers, law enforcement) to gather case information.
  • Apply self‑protection techniques and follow safety protocols during field visits.
  • For Level I: participate in training and assist higher-level specialists with investigations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and case records in accordance with policy.

Minimum Qualifications

Level I

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.

Level II

  • Master’s degree, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in professional social work.

The complexity of duties and salary level depend on the candidate’s qualifications and assigned level.


Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with case investigations, case management, or social work.
  • Familiarity with adult protective services, elder abuse issues, or related legal processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable providing courtroom testimony.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work in community settings.
  • Valid driver’s license and maintained auto insurance.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Level I (H26A): $38,857.35 per year + full state employee benefits (estimated).
  • Level II (H26B): $41,770.20 per year + full state employee benefits (estimated).

Actual salary offered will depend on level and qualifications. Confidential Client provides standard state employee benefits. (Pay transparency: posted salary information included where available.)
