What You’ll Do

This Confidential Client is hiring an Adult Protective Services (APS) Specialist I/II to help protect vulnerable adults in Ada, OK. The role focuses on investigating reports of abuse, neglect, or exploitation, assessing risk and capacity, coordinating services, preparing legal documentation, and testifying in hearings when necessary.

  • Conduct risk, needs and capacity assessments for vulnerable adults
  • Provide voluntary and, when required, involuntary protective services
  • Develop and coordinate customer-centered service plans with community partners
  • Conduct interviews with adults at risk, alleged perpetrators, and collateral contacts (phone and in-person)
  • Document case findings, interviews, and actions in the case management system
  • Prepare legal forms, attend court hearings, and provide testimony as needed
  • Participate in investigations alongside senior APS staff and lead follow-up activities for ongoing cases
  • Deliver trainings and presentations for internal and external partners; serve on committees and panels

Adult Protective Services Specialist I (Entry / Training Level)

  • A bachelor's degree in any field is required
  • Entry-level: will perform work in a training status and attend the APS New Worker Training Academy
  • Able to travel extensively and maintain a valid driver’s license and required car insurance

Adult Protective Services Specialist II

  • A bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in professional social work (or equivalent experience as defined by the Confidential Client)
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct assessments, interview adults and collaterals, and prepare legal forms
  • Able to travel extensively and maintain a valid driver’s license and required car insurance

All candidates must be legally eligible to work in the US and pass any background checks required by the Confidential Client.


Skills & Experience (Required / Strongly Preferred)

  • Strong interviewing and assessment skills
  • Clear, professional written documentation and case note skills
  • Experience working with vulnerable adult populations, social services, or related fields
  • Ability to coordinate services with community providers and legal representatives
  • Comfort with courtroom settings and providing testimony
  • Good judgment, ethical decision-making, and the ability to work both independently and in team settings
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel extensively in the assigned region
