Position Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Adjuster PIP – Consultant, Casualty Claims to manage no-fault and moderately complex casualty claims from intake through resolution. This full-time, exempt role follows a hybrid schedule (approximately two days per week in-office) based in Southfield, MI. The Consultant handles investigation, evaluation, payment authorization, negotiation, and documentation of claims while collaborating with legal, underwriting, and other internal partners.


What You’ll Do

  • Manage a caseload of moderately complex casualty and no-fault claims from intake through closure.
  • Investigate incidents, evaluate liability and damages, and apply state-specific laws and comparative negligence rules.
  • Verify coverage and evaluate medical bills and no-fault benefits for payment.
  • Set reserves, authorize payments within authority limits, and demonstrate sound financial judgment.
  • Communicate with claimants, legal representatives, providers, and third parties to negotiate resolutions.
  • Identify and refer suspicious activity to the Special Investigations Unit.
  • Support subrogation and risk transfer opportunities to protect insureds and the business.
  • Maintain clear, detailed, and compliant claim documentation.
  • Participate in cross-functional problem solving with underwriting, legal, and other teams.
  • Mentor entry-level claim handlers and share best practices.
  • Attend training to maintain required adjuster licenses and stay current on industry standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically 1–4 years of relevant claims handling experience with independent decision-making on indemnity and medical components.
  • Active or ability to obtain and maintain appropriate state adjuster license(s).
  • Proficient with common office software (MS Office suite) and comfortable using claims systems and digital tools.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and negotiation skills for moderately complex claim resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to handle sensitive conversations professionally and with empathy.
  • Demonstrated customer-centric approach and ability to adapt communication style to varied audiences.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Employment type: Full-time, exempt.
  • Estimated pay (from source): $57,977 per year (estimated).
  • Work model: Hybrid — approximately two days per week in the Southfield, MI office.
