Position overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Adjuster PIP — Consultant Casualty Claims to manage no‑fault and moderately complex casualty claims. This is a full‑time, exempt role with a hybrid schedule (typically two days in the office) based in Howell, MI. You will handle claim intake through resolution, evaluate medical bills and no‑fault benefits, coordinate with internal and external partners, and resolve claims with sound negotiation and documentation.


What You’ll Do

  • Manage a caseload of moderately complex casualty and no‑fault claims from intake through resolution.
  • Conduct investigations, assess liability, and evaluate damages using established procedures and state regulations.
  • Verify coverage, review medical bills and applicable no‑fault benefits, and determine appropriate payments.
  • Set reserves, authorize payments within authority, and demonstrate financial decision‑making.
  • Communicate directly with claimants, providers, attorneys, and third parties to negotiate fair resolutions.
  • Identify and refer potentially fraudulent or suspicious activity to the Special Investigations Unit.
  • Support subrogation, risk transfer, and other recovery opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant documentation of claim activity and decisions.
  • Use technology and data tools to improve processing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Mentor entry‑level claim handlers and contribute to team problem solving and process improvements.
  • Manage basic arbitration or mediation activities and work with legal when litigation risk warrants.
  • Obtain and maintain required state adjuster licenses.

Qualifications / What You Need to Apply

  • Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically 1–4 years of relevant claims handling experience (casualty, PIP/no‑fault preferred).
  • Proficiency with standard office software (MS Office suite) and comfort using claims systems.
  • Proven negotiation skills for moderately complex claim resolutions.
  • Ability to interpret and apply comparative negligence and state‑specific no‑fault rules.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Empathetic communication and customer‑centric service skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance claims processes and products.
  • Ability to work independently and escalate appropriately.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain appropriate state adjuster licenses.

Compensation

An estimated salary for this role is $54,322 per year (estimated). The target hiring range may vary by location, experience, and role level. Additional compensation may include bonus or recognition awards.
