What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a part-time Addictions Counselor (ADDICTIONS COUNSELOR I/II MCR) to deliver substance-use treatment and case management in Campbell, CA. You will provide individual and group counseling, develop and implement treatment plans, coordinate care with clinical and community providers, and support clients’ recovery and community reintegration.

• Provide one-on-one counseling and facilitate psychoeducation and relapse-prevention groups
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service and treatment plans
• Complete clinical documentation, admissions, discharge and billing paperwork per agency and regulatory standards
• Coordinate care and referrals with medical, mental health, housing, and social service providers
• Work with clients’ families to build support systems and help with community reintegration (housing, employment, benefits)
• Perform outreach and engagement, including visits to homes, shelters, hospitals, or detention facilities where required
• Provide crisis intervention and support during relapse or destabilization events

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate clinical records and case notes; meet deadlines for documentation and billing
• Conduct client assessments using ASAM and other applicable criteria; determine clinical appropriateness and benefit status
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and program reviews
• Provide client transportation when needed (using personal or agency vehicle per policy)
• Serve as required on-call or provide floor coverage when scheduled
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, licensing, and program policies

Compensation & Benefits

• Union step-based hourly pay — current step ranges include:
  • Addictions Counselor I: $33.56/hr (Step 1) to $37.05/hr (Step 6)
  • Addictions Counselor II: $37.45/hr (Step 1) to $41.34/hr (Step 6)
• Min. hourly rate listed: $33.56/hr (plus applicable CADC differential)
• Shift differentials (when applicable): 6.25% overnight (11pm–7am); 4.75% evening (5:30pm–10:59pm); 4.75% weekend
• Benefits package for 30–40 hour positions with defined contribution up to $15,433.08/year (prorated for part-time)
• Retirement plan with employer match starting at 4% after one year
• Paid time off: accruals up to ~25 vacation days/year, 6 sick days/year, and 12 paid holidays (per plan)

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED + 3 years’ experience; OR Associate’s + 2 years; OR Bachelor’s/Master’s + 1 year in addiction/substance-use services (E)
• Active registration/certification with a DHCS-approved certifying organization (CADC I, CADC II, or CADC III) (E)
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in small teams; strong verbal and written English communication (E)
• Experience with ASAM & DSM criteria, motivational interviewing, CBT, stages of change, and facilitation of psychosocial groups (E)
• Ability to work with high-risk and under-served populations, including individuals with co-occurring mental illness, homelessness, criminal-justice involvement, or medical fragility (E)
• Ability to pass criminal records clearance (Title XXII and other regulations) (E)
• Computer literacy, minimum 40 net wpm typing, familiarity with electronic clinical documentation and Microsoft Office (E)
• Valid California driver license, reliable vehicle or eligibility to drive agency vehicle, proof of insurance, and clean DMV record (E)

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Part-time schedule; shift example: Monday–Friday 12:00pm–8:30pm (shifts may vary)
• May require standing, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs., bending, kneeling, and repetitive motions (with or without accommodation)
• Occasional requirements for balancing, climbing, crawling; ability to assist clients/staff in emergency evacuations
• Work includes office, community, residential, clinical, or custody settings as required
