What You’ll Do

The Actuarial Analyst I supports the development and execution of actuarial analyses that inform pricing, reserving, and financial strategies. This entry-level position works under close supervision to gather and validate data, run quantitative analyses, and prepare reports used in rate reviews, modeling projects, and regulatory filings.

  • Support rate reviews, predictive modeling, reserving, and financial analyses through data collection, validation, and standard actuarial techniques.
  • Prepare and maintain analytical exhibits, presentations, and regulatory filing materials.
  • Assist with trend analysis, competitive studies, and reinsurance or risk-management projects.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly in written reports and verbal presentations.
  • Collaborate with actuarial team members and cross-functional partners (e.g., underwriting, finance, operations).
  • Build technical skills and industry knowledge through exam progress, training, and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in quantitative subjects (Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related).
  • Successful completion of at least one Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exam.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks under supervision.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with statistical or scripting tools such as Python or R preferred.
  • Coursework or practical experience in finance, accounting, or business operations.
  • Progress toward additional actuarial exams or professional credentials.

Location & Schedule

  • Hybrid role requiring in-person availability in Brenham, TX Monday–Wednesday.
  • Remote work may be limited to the remaining workdays per the client’s policies; local candidates or those willing to commute to the Brenham office are preferred.

Compensation

  • Estimated annual salary shown in the source listing: $82,759 (estimated). Actual compensation will be set by the Confidential Client and may vary based on experience and qualifications.
