What You’ll Do

This Actuarial Analyst role is part of a rotational Actuarial Development Program and will be focused on supporting and leading actuarial work for a newly launched Pet Insurance product line. You will provide pricing and analytical support, create rate indications and filings, monitor product performance, and help shape product and pricing strategy. You will work with stakeholders across the business and collaborate on crossline initiatives in the Specialty Economics organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain active status in the Actuarial Development Program and complete assigned rotations.
  • Produce actuarial rate-level indications for pet insurance products.
  • Research and identify performance drivers and trends; develop actionable rate and non-rate recommendations to improve profitability and growth.
  • Prepare and support actuarial rate filings and other regulatory submissions for pet insurance.
  • Develop line-of-business subject matter expertise and deliver robust profitability analyses reflecting current trends and initiatives.
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and implications clearly to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Build effective stakeholder relationships and influence decisions on product and pricing strategy.
  • Retrieve, clean, and manipulate data related to assigned actuarial projects.
  • Lead or support crossline initiatives and ad hoc analytical projects.
  • Identify and implement method and process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Follow and promote actuarial documentation and best practices.
  • Make positive progress toward required actuarial exams (ACAS/FCAS pathway).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Commitment to pursuing Associateship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS), with positive progress toward exams.
  • Passing grades on a minimum of 2 Casualty Actuarial Exams (examples: MAS I, MAS II, Exam 5, Exam 6).
  • 2–4 years of relevant actuarial or insurance analytics experience.
  • Familiarity with basic actuarial techniques, reserving and pricing concepts, and insurance operations.
  • Intermediate Excel and SAS skills; ability to build simple models. Programming skills (e.g., R, Python) are desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Solid oral, written, and presentation abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and in team settings.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with some direction from managers.

Program & Development

  • This position counts as a rotation within the Actuarial Development Program. Participants typically complete two rotations across disciplines such as reserving, pricing, modeling, and analytics within the first two years.
  • A requirement of the program is to make positive progress toward achieving ACAS/FCAS credentials.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: USD $75,000 – $140,000 per year (actual pay is based on experience, skills, location, and other factors).
