Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day financial operations for a local non-profit organization in Loveland, CO. This is an entry-level, developmental role (full-time) ideal for candidates who have a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance or are close to graduation, and who want hands-on experience with fund accounting, reconciliations, and accounting systems (MRI, Yardi, Excel). The position offers a clear growth path toward an accountant role and requires strong customer service and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable inboxes, triage requests, and route items appropriately
- Respond to vendor inquiries about payment status
- Review Positive Pay items and support bank fraud-prevention processes
- Record deposits made directly to the bank and reconcile recorded deposits to bank receipts
- Post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
- Reconcile bank accounts to ensure financial records align with statements
- Collect and file financial support documents and assist with program workpapers
- Review loan balances for accurate presentation on financial statements
- Support auditors, investors, and internal stakeholders with documentation and reporting
- Contribute to process improvements that strengthen internal controls and efficiency
- Maintain positive working relationships through clear communication and teamwork
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; candidates on track to graduate within one year will be considered
- Working knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and fund accounting principles
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems (Yardi or MRI preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities independently and with a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $50,000 – $55,000 per year (based on experience)
- Benefits may include health, dental, vision, and 401(k) eligibility (subject to client plan and eligibility rules)
