Role summary
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Accountant to support Finance and Records activities. This full-time role focuses on maintaining accurate accounting records, assisting with the general ledger, reconciling donation transactions, and preparing basic financial reports. The team operates with one remote workday per week and has a seasonal peak (late November through mid-January) during which time off is discouraged.
Responsibilities
- Manage and resolve donation exceptions and discrepancies
- Monitor bill-pay donations and ensure funds are received via EFT processes
- Manage the donations inbox and provide timely, professional responses to donors and internal finance contacts
- Assist employees with petty cash requests and related processes
- Serve as a liaison with the Church Unit Banking Services team
- Draft correspondence regarding investigations, follow-up items, and reconciliations
- Communicate by phone and email with donors, finance professionals, and leaders to facilitate processing and resolve inquiries
- Support a team of six in recording, reconciling, and reporting donation activity
- Maintain accurate accounting records and assist with reconciliations and basic financial reporting
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management
- No postgraduate professional accounting experience required; entry-level candidates encouraged
- Preferred: working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in ledger and record maintenance
- Professional written and verbal communication skills for interacting with donors and internal stakeholders
- Ability to follow established procedures, meet schedules, and learn accounting systems

- Full-time position
- Telecommute options: permitted to work from home one day per week
- Peak season (end of November through mid-January) — time off outside Church holidays is discouraged
