Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Accountant I to support day-to-day accounting operations within the oil & gas sector. This role offers hands-on exposure to general ledger tasks, monthly close activities, reconciliations, and cross-departmental financial support. Ideal for candidates with a Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance and 0–2 years of related experience who want to grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and post journal entries for general ledger activity, fixed assets, and accruals
- Assist with the monthly close: compile, analyze, and summarize financial data
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts on a regular cadence
- Monitor and report operational expenditures across departments
- Maintain accurate, complete accounting records in line with company policy
- Support audit requests by providing documentation and timely responses
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and ad-hoc projects as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 0–2 years of accounting experience (internships and oil & gas experience preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and familiarity with accounting software
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
- Effective organizational and time-management abilities
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated accountability, eagerness to learn, and ability to work independently or on a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment
Nice to Have
- Internship experience or coursework in oil & gas accounting
- Familiarity with fixed-asset accounting or accrual accounting processes
- Exposure to audit support and filing/documentation best practices
Compensation & Location
- Estimated pay: $59,117 per year (estimated)
