What You’ll Do
- Perform monthly journal entries, reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, and support the month‑end close process.
- Ensure transactions comply with GAAP, GASB, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and Official Statement.
- Assist with year‑end general ledger closing and preparation for the annual audit.
- Review, analyze, prepare, and post budget adjustments and journal entries for expense, revenue, and contingency accounts.
- Support various phases of the budget process and provide technical assistance on budgeting and accounting procedures.
- Maintain capital projects accounting—set up and monitor projects, process adjustments and journal postings, and track purchase orders.
- Compile and analyze financial data and recommend improvements to accounting processes and systems.
- Complete assigned accounting projects and assist in audit activities as needed.
Who We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or equivalent education/experience combination).
- Approximately two years of accounting experience — governmental or fund accounting preferred.
- Knowledge of public‑sector accounting principles, fiscal reporting, and administrative practices.
- Ability to maintain assigned accounts, prepare financial statements, communicate clearly (written and verbal), and work effectively with the public and internal teams.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines in a team environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay rate: $36.01 - $41.33 per hour; $65,538 - $75,221 annually.
- Full‑time position (35 hours per week).

Location & Work Arrangement
- Location: Maryland, MD (telework eligible). This role allows for partial telework but requires regular in‑office attendance as directed by the supervisor. Careertakes’ client will provide final determination of work schedule and office expectations.
