The entry-level Accountant supports the Finance Department by performing essential accounting functions such as reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, and financial record maintenance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Accountant to support day-to-day finance operations at their Torrance, CA manufacturing facility. You will work closely with the Accounting Manager and the finance team to maintain accurate records and support month-end close activities.
- Perform monthly corporate credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Review employee expense reports for policy compliance
- Assist with accounts payable tasks: invoice matching, coding, vendor setup, and payment processing
- Support accounts receivable activities: cash application, payment tracking, collections support, and customer account reconciliations
- Prepare account reconciliations and resolve outstanding variances
- Assist in preparing journal entries and maintaining supporting documentation
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Maintain accurate electronic accounting records and supporting schedules
- Prepare reports and schedules using Microsoft Excel (formulas, lookups, pivot tables)
- Research accounting issues and help resolve discrepancies
- Respond to internal inquiries about accounting transactions and financial records
- Assist with audits by gathering documentation and schedules
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls
- Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as assigned
Compensation & Hours
- Non-exempt, full-time position (reports to Accounting Manager)
- Pay rate: $31.25 to $36.06 per hour (hourly range provided by our client)
- On-site at Torrance, CA facility; typical business hours with occasional peak-period workload for close activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 0–2 years of accounting experience (including internships)
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to meet deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or prior experience in corporate accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or bookkeeping
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience using ERP or accounting software
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data analysis)
- CPA eligibility or plans to pursue professional certification is a plus
