What You’ll Do

The Account Manager will work in the field to support existing provider accounts and learn the clinical laboratory environment under the guidance of senior team members. This is an entry-level-to-junior role designed to develop core competencies in lab services, compliance, specimen logistics, and client communication while supporting day-to-day account operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Shadow senior Account Managers on provider visits and ride-alongs to learn best practices.
  • Support supply requests, specimen pickup coordination, and other day-to-day account activities.
  • Learn the Confidential Client’s test services (toxicology, infectious disease, routine diagnostics) and related processes.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and activity logs.
  • Collaborate with lab, operations, billing, and compliance teams to resolve client requests.
  • Conduct provider education on sample collection, requisition processes, and collection logistics.
  • Respond to routine client questions and escalate complex issues to senior team members.

Account Support & Client Service

You will assist senior Account Managers in maintaining and strengthening relationships with provider accounts:

  • Help fulfill supply orders and coordinate specimen pickups.
  • Assist with obtaining billing and patient insurance information when needed.
  • Serve as a professional, reliable point of contact for routine client inquiries.
  • Escalate service, billing, or compliance issues to appropriate internal teams.

Learning & Development

This role includes structured training and mentorship to progress toward an independent Account Manager position:

  • Build foundational knowledge of compliance requirements, requisition processes, and specimen handling standards.
  • Participate in ongoing training and ride-alongs with senior staff.
  • Receive regular feedback and coaching to support career growth.

Team Collaboration

You will be part of a cross-functional, client-facing team:

  • Work closely with senior Account Managers, operations, logistics, billing, and compliance to ensure seamless client support.
  • Communicate proactively about account needs and potential issues.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, growth-oriented team culture.

Qualifications

Minimum and preferred qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Prior customer service, client support, or entry-level account/sales experience is a plus. Clinical laboratory experience preferred but not required.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; professional and personable demeanor.
  • Coachability: Eager to learn, receptive to feedback, and motivated to advance.
  • Sales Acumen: Comfortable in an inside-sales/support environment with interest in client retention and growth.
  • Organization: Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork: Collaborative mindset and willingness to support senior team members and other departments.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel locally for provider visits; occasional out-of-area travel may be required.
