About the Role

Confidential Client is hiring an Account Coordinator based in Manhattan, NY. This is an entry-level, in-office PR role supporting multiple client accounts in cleantech, energy and climate technology sectors. You will report to an Account Executive and learn core agency skills — media lists, monitoring, pitching, reporting and client service — with a path to grow into an Account Executive.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain targeted media lists across national business, tech, energy and climate trade outlets
  • Run daily media monitoring and deliver timely, clean coverage reports to clients
  • Draft first versions of press releases, media pitches, briefing notes, social posts and award submissions
  • Track reporter beats and recent stories to time outreach effectively
  • Assist with pitching reporters and follow-ups; develop ownership over outreach as relationships grow
  • Prepare briefing books for client interviews (reporter background, likely questions)
  • Keep client and editorial calendars, speaking opportunities and award deadlines up to date
  • Take clear notes on client/internal calls and convert them into action items
  • Pull together monthly and quarterly results reports
  • Research clients’ markets, competitors and relevant policy issues
  • Support new business work: prospect research and proposal preparation

What We’re Looking For

  • 0–2 years of experience in PR, communications, journalism or related fields (internships count)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong, clean writing — you can translate technical ideas into plain English for reporters
  • Genuine curiosity about climate, energy and technology (technical degrees not required)
  • A habit of reading the news daily and knowing who covers what beats
  • Organized and reliable; able to manage deadlines across several accounts
  • Comfortable making phone calls to clients and reporters
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Cision, Muck Rack, Meltwater or other media tools is a plus
  • Nice-to-have: newsroom/student paper experience, coursework in environmental science/policy, or time on a campaign/government office

Skills & Tools

  • Media relations and pitch writing
  • Media monitoring and coverage reporting
  • Research (market, competitor, policy)
  • Calendar and deadline management for multiple accounts
  • Google Workspace, Microsoft Office; Cision/Muck Rack/Meltwater familiarity a plus
  • Strong verbal communication and note-taking

Compensation & Location

  • Location: Manhattan, NY (onsite)
  • Employment type: Full-time (entry-level)
  • Estimated salary (as listed): $48,830 per year (estimated)
