What You’ll Do

This entry-level Accessioner role supports clinical laboratory operations by receiving, verifying, and processing patient specimens to ensure accurate testing and timely results. You’ll work on-site in San Diego, CA and collaborate with lab staff to maintain LIMS records, follow SOPs, and support quality initiatives.

  • Receive, verify, and accession patient specimens for clinical laboratory testing
  • Triage and prioritize incoming samples to meet turnaround-time goals
  • Enter and maintain accurate patient and specimen data in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Perform specimen processing tasks for blood, urine, tissue, and other biological samples
  • Conduct internal documentation reviews and assist with audits to ensure completeness and compliance
  • Follow laboratory SOPs, safety protocols, and quality-control procedures
  • Track specimen workflow and maintain chain-of-custody and record integrity
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve specimen or documentation issues

Who You Are (Qualifications)

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or related field preferred
  • 0–2 years of laboratory, specimen processing, healthcare, or related experience
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-volume environment and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Good organizational and communication skills

Required Skills

  • Specimen processing and sample accessioning
  • Laboratory documentation and accurate data entry
  • Experience or familiarity with LIMS / data management systems
  • Basic pipetting and sample handling techniques
  • Knowledge of quality control and compliance best practices

Preferred Experience

  • Prior laboratory, clinical, research, or healthcare experience
  • Hands-on experience handling biological specimens (blood, urine, tissue)
  • Familiarity with laboratory workflows and sample tracking systems

Pay & Benefits

  • Pay: $20.00 per hour (range: $20.00 - $20.00/hr)

Compensation offered will depend on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
