Position Overview

This Academic Division Data Analyst will support the Senior Associate Provost and the Associate Director of Institutional Research by collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and reporting academic and institutional data to inform decision-making across academic divisions. The role focuses on producing reliable analyses, maintaining dashboards and automated reports, and partnering with faculty and administrative stakeholders to answer data requests.


What You’ll Do

  • Support institutional research and academic analytics projects for academic divisions.
  • Prepare, clean, and validate datasets from student information systems, learning platforms, and other sources.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and visual reports (Tableau, Power BI, or similar) for enrollment, retention, course offerings, and program review.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and transform data; develop reproducible analysis pipelines.
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc analyses (e.g., enrollment trends, course demand, assessment outcomes) and translate findings into clear recommendations for non-technical audiences.
  • Automate routine reports and improve data workflows to increase efficiency and data quality.
  • Collaborate with IR, IT, academic units, and institutional stakeholders to scope requests and ensure alignment with data governance and privacy requirements.
  • Document data sources, methodology, and analysis processes; follow best practices for reproducibility and confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Institutional Research, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence — preferably in higher education or a related nonprofit/education setting.
  • Proficiency with SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience building dashboards and visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, or comparable tools.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills for data manipulation and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to explain technical results to academic and administrative audiences.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, initiative, and ability to manage multiple requests and deadlines.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with statistical programming in Python or R for advanced analysis.
  • Familiarity with student information systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft) and data warehousing concepts.
  • Knowledge of higher education data standards, accreditation processes, or program review practices.
  • Prior work supporting faculty or academic departments with data-informed decision-making.

Work Environment & Employment Type

  • Full-time position based in Granville, OH. Some hybrid or occasional on-site presence may be required depending on the needs of the academic divisions and institutional policies.
  • This role will comply with applicable federal and state employment laws and institutional policies, including data privacy and confidentiality standards.
