This organization is developing a nationwide network of secure environments designed to accelerate access to classified systems and technologies that support national defense initiatives.
The Cybersecurity Support Specialist role is ideal for an early-career cybersecurity professional looking to gain hands-on experience with security frameworks, compliance operations, and secure system management within highly regulated environments.
What You’ll Do

Assist with monitoring and maintaining the security posture of classified and unclassified IT systems

Support cybersecurity compliance documentation including Security Plans (SSPs) and Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms)

Conduct vulnerability scans, patch verification, and system security checks under guidance from senior cybersecurity staff
Provide Tier 1 support for cybersecurity-related technical requests
Assist with user access management and permissions reviews -
Document security findings and remediation activities aligned with compliance standards

Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, and physical security teams to maintain system security and compliance

Participate in incident response support activities including log collection and initial analysis

Promote cybersecurity awareness and best practices across internal teams
What We’re Looking For
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–5 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT support, or system administration (internships and academic projects considered)
- Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts such as access control, vulnerability management, and system hardening
- Foundational knowledge of Windows, Linux, and networking fundamentals
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Certification
- DoD 8140.03 / 8570.01 Information Assurance Technical II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+)
- Or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire
Eligibility & Clearance
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Candidates must be capable of obtaining and maintaining Top Secret / SCI eligibility
Compensation
Estimated salary range: $90,000 – $115,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and location. Additional benefits may include health coverage, retirement programs, and equity opportunities depending on the employer.
